No Chevrolet sale for WBL

WBL Corporation (Wearnes) will soon stop selling Chevrolet cars in Singapore.

The mainboard-listed company disclosed that the dealership agreement between its subsidiary Starsauto and General Motors (GM) will expire on June 30 and no renewal will be made.

Starsauto was appointed by GM as its first Chevrolet dealer in Singapore in 2003.

In its statement on Thursday, Wearnes said the move to give up the dealership was in line with ongoing streamlining efforts to strengthen the group's core automotive distribution and service business.

'This will enable Wearnes to focus on segments that provide wider foundations for regional partnerships and growth.'

I knew it 2 years ago when I found out the hard way that their service was beyond my expectation. Good bye and good riddance. Not sure about Alpine Motors.

Yalor... sometimes the service from the agent is the most important. The car can be good or bad, but the owner will still be happy if the service from the agent is good, reassuring and warranty claims honoured.

Beyond your expections but found it out the hard way.... so is that good or bad?

Anyway, maybe Starsauto don't want GM and not the other way round?

Not trying to pick on your english, but I think you mean they did not meet your expectations lah. Beyond means exceed your expectations [:p] .

Anyway, I've bought a Chevy from Alpine before. Service was ok, no complains for the 1yr ownership.

Before that was at Starsauto showroom but no salesperson entertained me :(.

No worries. I actually meant it when I first typed it out. Just that I forgot the quotes, thus it should read ..."beyond my expectations". Must read the hidden message behind it. [laugh][lipsrsealed]

Hmm... for me, comparing starauto service and my current sushi AD service, I must say that starauto is much better. Din have to bang table during the time when I drove my Aveo. Had no issues with it, and it served me well for 2.5yrs.(except for the juddering wipers).

One man's meat is another's poison I supposed.

So Alpine's gonna take over all the servicing of the chevy cars? Any implications for those who bought chevy cars from SA?

Turbocharged

I received a long letter explaining why and how they will continue to support chevy owner here. They even give names for feedback which I did! Well it is 3 days now and I have yet to hear from them.

This is a good test to see how the change is going to be better or worse. Hope the new team is reading this. Writing long letters and no follow up is not going to improve past image.

If your car is within the 3 years warranty, do be careful because if something goes wrong, they will not honnor the warranty. Unless you are willing to fight and make a big fuss to ensure the whole world knows about it, they will say the defect is due to non maintenance.

Once the warranty is over, forget about the dealer or agent servicing. This is not their strength and they aren't interested then making $$$. We got AA but not sure if they are helping or just providing towing service.
