My agent is from MCF as well. And I trust her to find the cheapest quote. For example, last year when my insurance was due, I almost wanted to carry on with previous insurer. But she told me to hold on and managed to get me 1 that is $100++ cheaper. I used to get from other MCFer, but I find his service isn't that sincere. And I stop getting from him and buy from another person instead. Cos if it was him that was handling, he would had let me purchase the one with the higher premium. ↡ Advertisement

Mazda2gal 5th Gear July 1, 2009 Share July 1, 2009 I believe mine is record breaking increase, it was 960 last year, this year almost 2900, because someone want to make a false claim against me. 200% increase I say it is a false claim, because I did not rear end anyone, no one stop on the road to confront me, my car is totally unscarred. Just looking at the kind of car I driving, anyone would know it's impossible to cause that kind of damage to that car, when my car is totally fine, unless my car can actually 'fly' and hit that car at a spot higher than the front of my car. The easiest way to settle shd be to get the claimant to come out with his car, compare my car with his(MPV), we'll know it's impossible. However, the insurance co SOP is to settle it by getting lawyer to fight the case in court. Now still pending, told that it could drag for years, and who suffer? me. I was advised by some agents to stick to the same motor ins co as they are the ones handling my case, and they know the details. There might be complications if I change to another co and f there's a new claim, it would make matters very complicated. I was also told that by sticking to the same one, if I'm found not liable for this claim, I would get back my NCD and excess premium paid, but if I change to another co, my NCD starts from 0%. I really wonder why there is such a big loophole and no one is doing anything about it. Anyway my ins co person told me that this kind of case is common. I emailed GIA, someone replied and ask me to talk to my ins co. Obviously they do not plan to do anything about it. No wonder premiums are rising. Zyrofillica 1st Gear July 1, 2009 Share July 1, 2009 seems like the govt has to step in and regulate everything in order to make singaporeans behave. What kind of society have we become that will need every aspect of our lives to be controlled by a govt body? I vote for our super man lee to come save us from the workshops, lawyers and insurance companies. PAP! PAP! PAP!
Mazda2gal 5th Gear July 2, 2009 Share July 2, 2009 I was told by an ex-police officer that the police would not take up cases like that, no point going to the police. I showed my insurance company my proof (photos, measurements of cars etc) they decided to fight the case in court, and this is the tricky part, because it can drag for a long time, and it affects my car insurance premium. Anyway one very interesting point was brought up during my first conversation with a lady from the claims dept, she said that since the claimant can remember my car plate no. correctly, I MUST BE THE ONE who rear-end him, and that the judge would believe his words and pass the verdict in his favour too. I wonder what logic that is. I see so many cars on the road, and it doesn't take a lot of effort to rem a car's number plate, does that mean that I can just take one laopok car with many dents etc and report that he hit my car and ran away? (I was told by another lady in the ins co that disputes like mine are very common to them, so I believe this is happening in our country?) oh anyway she said that even if my car is unscarred, it is not a proof that I did not hit that claimant's MPV, because there are cases whereby one car is badly damaged but another car is totally fine, I believe it does happen, but we need to look at the make of the cars and also the position of the alleged damage right? I'm writing all these because I believe there are other people who are in the same situation as me, or will be in the same situation as me one day, coz there are just too many people out there who prey on others for their own benefit, in cahoots with the workshops. Maybe we should all install video cameras in our cars, so that we can take down evidence of non-involvement in accidents that might come in handy one day. ↡ Advertisement
