Tested this car a few weeks ago. All I can say is... WOW. The 1.4 engine is amazingly zippy and also extremely smooth. At low revs you can hear the supercharger work in the background, then it transitions to the turbo stage and yet the power is delivered in one smooth wave. The DSG is fantastic too. I absolutely love the Scirocco 1.4. I think it's the best car under $100K you can buy now, assuming you don't need 4 doors.

 

The 1.4 is like you said damn zippy....in fact after driving both car's I'd rather go for the 1.4. It handles better as well.

 

But like damn sad cos when you drive the car you start to realise that although it sits wider and shorter than a GTI, it feels like VW purposely detuned it so it won't conflict with the GTI's proposition...but nevertheless I think the 1.4 is a brilliant car with a gem of an engine. Go try it at their showrooms la...when driving out of the showroom make sure you floor the accelerator...feels really good on grip.

Yeah the Scirocco is supposed to be a much better car. I love it a lot more than the Golf...I've driven both the Scirocco 1.4 and 2.0 before but too bad I didn't get a chance on a Mk 6 Golf GTI to test the difference in performance...

I actually never seen one in Lime green. But it looks amazing in white. Its definitely one of the best looking hatchback (or is it a coupe) in the market right now.

Never saw white before, but should look chio too. Seems that the scirocco looks better in bright colours.

The photos are nice,buts still doesn't do the car enough justice. It looks much much better in the flesh. Me my colleagues went to teh showroom after our lunch atIkea to see it in the flesh.

 

On top of the well documented good look of the exterior. The Sun roof is alos very impressive. The doors are firm & will close automatically if less than 1 foot open. The interior of the 2l version with sport seats are especially nice.

 

A few of us has the sirocco as our wallpaper in the office right now.

 

Anyone know the insurance. Is is alot more expensive than a regular sedan? I am at the "time to change car" period.
