Route Clutched May 18, 2009 Share May 18, 2009 Hi guys, i have this problem with my car, i can never seem to get my car align properly. tried alignment like 4 times, last was done at stamford this afternoon but the car stil steers to the left. Everytime after alignment, my car drives straight.. my steering is straight but after like say drive it for 1hr, the alignment will go off. in order to go straight i have to tilt my steering a little right is there something wrong with the car? the only thing i've done is lower it, no camber kit install but that shouldnt be a problem right? Thanks ↡ Advertisement

Route Clutched May 18, 2009 Author Share May 18, 2009 (edited) any other inputs on the issue other than "look for kenny" ? problem is that every time just after alignment my car is straight, everything is ok.... only after driving for sometime then it will steer to the left. did not touch anything at all.. no potholes nothing, just crusing on expressway. Thanks :) Edited May 18, 2009 by Route

Route Clutched May 18, 2009 Author Share May 18, 2009 thanks for the workshops recommendations but i still intend to go back to stamford as i do not wish to pay for alignment again... already burning a hole in my pocket just for alignment alone.. lol i would like to know if anybody else is facing such an issue/situation. Yeobh 4th Gear May 18, 2009 Share May 18, 2009 Just tell the mech which side the car is pulling then get him to increase the toe-in angle slightly. If the shop has a side slip tester, drive the car over the plate, if the reading stay within -5 /+5/m per km zone then it's OK ( safe to drive ). Yuan 6th Gear May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 thanks for the workshops recommendations but i still intend to go back to stamford as i do not wish to pay for alignment again... already burning a hole in my pocket just for alignment alone.. lol i would like to know if anybody else is facing such an issue/situation. My car after changing tyres on one occasion had an issue of going to the right for a few times. Went back to Stamford Tyres at least twice to re-do my alignment and after I saw what they had done, even though I am nuts about computerized alignment, I would never go back to them for alignment anymore. I forked out another 60 bucks and went back to my previous mechanic's recommended tyre dealer at Woodlands and he resolved my problem with properly carried out alignment of my wheels. I felt that I lost this additional 60 bucks for a good cause. Tyres are the most important thing on the road and if anything happens, it could be more than 60 dollars. Sky61 1st Gear May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 many factors that could lead to that. tyres that are deformed or feathered can lead to pull to one side, suspension bushes worn out can lead to unrealible alignments, roll centre adjusters may be needed for certain cars that have lowered rides as the CG has changed and excessive toe movement changes takes place when cornering and bump steer. Vextan 1st Gear May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 actually, how necessary is alignment ? i kow of many people who doesnt do alignment at all for their cars. myself included.
K_ch Neutral Newbie May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 most of our road are designed slant abit towards left, even the wheel alignment are perfectly aligned, still need to tilt the steering wheel to the right to compensate. this design is to effectively drain away the rain water, else pool of rain water will build up in the middle of the road. Yuan 6th Gear May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 actually, how necessary is alignment ? i kow of many people who doesnt do alignment at all for their cars. myself included. I did my alignment once every 10k or 20k mileage. It is as good as saving my monies than poisoning myself to some other modifications. Correct me if I am wrong. I understand that if the wheels are not in alignment on the road, it can affect the fuel consumption or the tires would wear out faster than its supposed lifespan. Eskimo Neutral Newbie May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 I recently did 2 wheel alignments at 2 different shops, due to uneven tyre wear issues. I could have easily gone to Stamford since they are so established. What did you see in their wheel alignment process that made you never to go back again ? Their lacklustre attitude which is shown in the way they handle the equipment and my car. On both occasions, the shop wasn't crowded cos it was on a weekday. Freifeit Neutral Newbie May 19, 2009 Share May 19, 2009 (edited) if the steering pulled to side, most probably the camber is out of angle. ask the tyre shop to check the camber reading & adjust it back to be within limit. when we go for alignment, most of the tyre shop mechanic will not bother to check the camber reading. you have to ask them to do so. many of them also dunno how to adjust camber. btw, you have to pay extra for camber adjustment. good luck! If you go for 4 wheel alignment, they will adjust not only toe-in/out, camber but also castor angles as well. Look for Amin if you want to go to AMK Ind. park. a shop called Aesop.
