Sha_va Neutral Newbie May 13, 2009 Share May 13, 2009 yes imposed a penalty to road hoggers, they are also one of the cause for accidents. blocked 1st lane, forming 'train' den we have to overtake them in full speed... so angry. drivers are on the road at 60km/hr at Expressway! hey they know what is expressway anot?? ↡ Advertisement
Drive_carcar Clutched May 14, 2009 Share May 14, 2009 I think only the most obvious case of road hogging will get the attention of our esteemed TP. Like driving at 40km/h at lane 1. Otherwise, if people go at 80 - 90 on lane 1, I pretty much doubt they can and will do much. Because that will invide a lot of unneccesary problems. Let's say if a person were booked for road hogging for travelling at 90km/h (which is the speed limit) for lane 1, then that person may write to the press complaining that TP want him to exceed speed limit. And knowing our public sectors, they hate to have to answer for such nonsense.

How many accidents are there in the autobahn compared to just our PIE? The drivers will know what limit their car can handle... if they wanna kill themselves driving a coke can @ 100km/h then let them... therefore, lesser cars for us in sg. Lets put it this way..... will a lousy car continue driving at 140km/h if it is rattling and vibrating? Only a cockster will do that. If a ferrari were to go at 200km/h and manage to stop in time? No one sees anything wrong with that. Maybe govt car slow that is why force us all to be slow.
Boyboy 1st Gear May 14, 2009 Share May 14, 2009 Unfortunately there is no such law but there is a law for driving dangerously! road hogging IS dangerous driving. but pity the cop on top wun catch these, and too few TPs riding around. oh well
Boyboy 1st Gear May 14, 2009 Share May 14, 2009 That is why I personally have never believed in the "SAF rule" of "Do what you want, just don't get caught". If we keep repeating that to our youths, then we will only have ourselves to blame when our own citizens never develop any semblance of social grace. actually, it applies to things which are technically illegal but not really morally wrong. or rather, don't hurt others. just that some people apply it to other aspects of their life as well. what to do? buying dvds from jb doesn't really harm anyone, unless u are the super rich kind who would otherwise buy genuine dvds. for example... driving like a c0ck affects everyone else. that's just unacceptable even if one won't get 'caught'
Vextan 1st Gear May 14, 2009 Share May 14, 2009 (edited) i think road hoggers exist because of two reasons. one is because it is not an offence to road hog , i.e. PT will not pull over someone for road hogging but speeding, second is because they think that driving at the max speed limit cannot be regarded as road hogging since it is stated by the law to keep within the speed. it is a misconception that is not understood by everyone. Thug Clutched May 14, 2009 Share May 14, 2009 Too many silly car owners on the road lately hogging 1st lane going at 70-80km/h way below the speed limit of the expressway. In the rain they can even use the 1st lane at 50km/h!!!! If there is a minimum speed limit.... 1) There will be no congestion and BRAKING on the 1st lane! 2) It will keep SLOW cautious drivers off the 1st lane when it is raining so it will not block the way of faster cars. 3) No commercial vehicles will be using the lane at all times to slow us down. 4) Then people with itchy backside wanna drive so slow because they have alot of time, no need to use expressway at all. I've seen cars going at 40-60km/h on expressways, they are really blocking the way for everybody and creating jams. I was once on the AYE there was slow traffic at Clementi and in lane 1,2,3,4 was only going at 60km/h and i zig zagged.... guess what i found? On the 1st lane near Alexander a nissan sunny driven by an aunty was drive at 60km/h on the 1st lane.... infront of the car the road was CLEAR!!!!!! In lane 3 and 4 is slow becos of commercial vehicles.... then in lane 2 cars going so slow as usual. I was behind her... I horned and flashed.... other drivers did it too... but she din move.... so i tried to cut into her lane leaving a very little margin to scare her off, no reaction.... I hope someone in this forum who knows this aunty can educate her. There is law on road hogging liao mah. If set a min speed, how for those in heavy traffic going at 30km/h? The whole freaking stretch of cars get booked??? Think brother think...

If a milo tin loose control at 150 km/h on lane 1, it could very well veer into lane 2 or 3, causing widespread havoc and endangering other road users. If it's all about them and their own milo tins I wouldn't mind. But they can cause lots of collateral damages, endangering other road users, and in the aftermath cause traffic jams, the bane of all car drivers. Another point is, there are just too many cocksters on the road. Never underestimate any person's innate abilities to do extremely foolish things. ↡ Advertisement
