Russ 1st Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 What truckers call a ROLLOVER. Articulated trucks are very susceptible to rollovers, especially if they are carrying loads that are not secured inside the container and the load moves it can easily pull the truck over. Also very susceptible are trucks carrying liquids because the liquid tends to slosh around inside - most fuel tankers e.g. have baffles inside the tank to prevent this- it is actually most dangerous when the tanks are half full - if the tanks are full, the sloshing is much less and unlikely to cause a ROLLOVER. Rollovers have happened as low as 20km/h!!! So, next time, if you are on the outside of an articulated truck and turning, just let the truck go first - that way, you will not get crushed by the truck if it rolls over. One trick is - if you are outside... give way, because the turn could overturn and crush you. If you are inside, quickly get out of the situation, as the truck's big ass could flip and spank you big time. In short, do whatever it takes to stay out of their way.
