Fitzy Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Hi, Planning to change my tyre soon, currently on GR80. So far been happy with it but unfortunately no more in production. Any recommendation for an equal performance tyre or slightly better (Grip wise and noise is a concern). Also do include the price, I'm using a 15" rims. Thank you. ↡ Advertisement

Fitzy Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Author Share May 11, 2009 (edited) I heard AR10 is not that good comparing to GR80. Any comments from current user? Any one changed their GR80 to AR10, comments? Edited May 11, 2009 by Fitzy
Andrefoo Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 still have some places carrying leftover stock. pm me and i'll let you know where. AR10 made in Indo. Chances are that they are not as good as the original GR80s which in my opinion is still the best all rounder...
Junjie 1st Gear May 12, 2009 Share May 12, 2009 GR80 no more on 15" or on all sizes?
Octopus 3rd Gear May 12, 2009 Share May 12, 2009 Gr80's replacement is AR10. Allow me to clarify that AR10 is not meant to replace GR80. AR10 is replacement for ER60 instead. Evidence: http://www.zerotohundred.com/2008/auto-fea...r10-test-drive/ I saw GR80 selling at Autobacs, and date of manufactured is late Y2008. Furrynadz 5th Gear May 12, 2009 Share May 12, 2009 there is no replacement for GR80 yet i switched from GR80 (MIJ) to pp2 on one car, and have fitted ar10 on another (ar10 MIT) gr80 has a slightly stiffer sidewall than ar10 noise level gr80 is better, but ar10 is surprisingly good in wet due to its more open void area if want to go for similar pattern, goodyear ls2000 is around there too

Thank you. i am a ex GR80 too, now using falken 912. Price is 30% cheaper than GR80, reasonable grip and low noise. Has been running for about 7k km. Still monitoring the noise and threadwear... Erictan8888 Neutral Newbie May 12, 2009 Share May 12, 2009 tyre is 215/60/16... for GR80, quote $170 per piece... is this expensive? also, since GR80 no more in production, would installing old tyres be dangerous? how old is considered old? thanks

Blueray Hypersonic May 12, 2009 Share May 12, 2009 (edited) was on GR50, then GR80 and now on RE001. find the RE001 better grip than the GR80 but only a bit noisier, same price as GR80 so went for the RE001. Edited May 12, 2009 by Blueray

As long as date code is manufacture in 2008, it is alright.
