Any idea what is the different btw your car OMV vs current OMV?

Will you buy a 1.6L Civic which is cost higher than a new model 2L Mazda3?

Demand for YEN due to many factors...some more powerful factors are

1) Ending the carry trade...means those that short the YEN n buy another currency which offers higher yield will have to close their positions, in other words mean buying back the YEN.

2) Since the RenMinBi (aka RMB), is not officially traded, the nearest proxy would be the YEN.

3) Not to mention the monetary easing taken by MAS on Sing dollars....

But the key to me is if, the ADs are willing to lower their profit margins to absorb the rise in YEN, then it wouldn't make any difference to the end buyers like us right?

just my views. [gossip]

No, too difficult to absorb the rise in Yen.

For example, OMV of Stream RSZ increases by $5k, which means after tax, the cost increase is about $11k, how to absorb?

For Honda car, their OMV increase is MAD.

For Mazda 5, the rise in OMV is reflected in the car price [sweatdrop]

is like that one.... what's new?

okay, to clear doubts...

take mazda3 2.0 for a simple calculation:

OMV 23K

so the actual cost shall be

$23K x 2.27 = $52,210

Cat B COE = $7,500

warehousing, transportation, insurance, other fix cost etc etc = $5K

Total: $52210+7500+5000 = $64710

Selling price: $75988

PROFIT: 75988-64710 = $11278.

who say Mazda got a profit of $20K in the first place???

that's my assumption only, just imagine all AD/ PI having the same fix cost be it $100, $1,000, $5,000 etc etc.

I went to the Mazda showroom 2 days back and I could say that the 2 litres is bang for buck. If i were to based my judgement solely on pictures on the net for the new 3, I would just give it a miss coz its not appealing at all with the grinning frog expression. But all change after seeing it in skin. The features that comes with the new 3 justify its price (2l that is). Just skip the 1.6 litres cos for 6k more than the luxury 1.6 edition, you could get a 5 speed gear paddle shift with bi-xenon headlights and hi tech consoles at the driver's cabin. The aircon at the drivers and passengers side can be controlled individually. The dashboard illumination is super cool with blackout meters. Even the seats are sporty. Downside is that the rear is still as cramp as the previous version coz its still categorize as a mid size sedan. For someone at my height (1.79m) it could only comfortably sits 4. And the price difference with the Mazda 6 2.0 l is almost 15k. Well, those 2 are of different categories. Juz my opinion....
