Quirky_ster Clutched May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 With current "on-par" to Conti feel, the car already a little sluggish... You want to put in those Volvo safety heavyweights... then ppl will curse and swear on it's engine and no one talks about it's safety... probably it's the safest car.. coz' it cannot go fast... It's a balance of everything... but I still think the older MZ3 looks way better and proportionate somehow..... or just me getting old! ↡ Advertisement

Just add a Turbo + Supercharger = Twincharger to the new MZ3 ( both 1.6 and 2.0 ) and you have something like the VW Golf GT and GTI = Best all round package ( Looks, handling and performance ) !!! Kelpie 2nd Gear May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 cramp at the back??? cos mazda back sit is longer... so people can sit nicely on it... if use H or T backsit then will have a lot of space liao... I think the spaciousness is defined by 2 important components, i.e. Cubic feets and leg room+ shoulder space. In addition, whether center passenger could sit comfortably or not? some cars have very high center hump and you can't really get the center sitting passenger to place their foots comfortably. So some cars are actually very comfortable 2 seaters at the rear as opposed to those that can sit 3 at the rear sufficiently without rubbing shoulders. Nkps 1st Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Can the Mazda reach the safety and badge standards of a Volvo? It has the same platform but what each respective company puts into R&D and technology is completely different. good question u have for me, sorry i have no answer. but can you answer me if Volvo S40 can sell at the price of Mazda3? if your answer to me is cannot, then you should know my answer to your question too. Akula Turbocharged May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 A number of front wheel drive cars here 4 wheel drive variants available elsewhere. Some do have a slight hump for "slotting" in the mufffler/exhaust, so that less protrusion, thus less noise.

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 it's either rear wheel drive or front wheel drive...definitely not AWD... the hump may also consist of transmission...
Miketow Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Have a fren who knows nuts about cars and when he bought his first car 3 years ago, bought a Mazda3. After 3 years of driving the Maz3, he drove his father's TOYOTA ALTIS. First day driving the ALTIS around the corner, lost control and almost drove the ALTIS into the longkang! I ask him why he drive so fast around the corner - his reply? "I always drive my Mazda3 around corner at high speed, nothing happened what!" Moral of the story? The fantastic dynamics of a Mazda3 will never be appreciated by T or H drivers. It has to be driven to be appreciated.

The fantastic dynamics of a Mazda3 will never be appreciated by T or H drivers. It has to be driven to be appreciated. What a gross exaggeration. I've driven a stock Mazda 3 for a few weeks and I use a bone stock Altis as a family car. The Mazda 3 is undeniably better at road holding (and likewise the Altis is undeniably more sprightly), but not to the point that it can take on corners at speeds that will send the Altis into a longkang. The proper conclusion is that your friend needs to learn how to pay attention while driving and Mazda is not god's gift to drivers.
