In my opinion, as long as Honda can't even win a single F1 race with their engine before, they should never be justifiable as premium with their vtec engine.

Me & my friend went for a test drive M3.

The salesman keep comparing his Mazda3 with Altis & city ( condem like s--t about make in Thailand).

After all his sales talk, I ask him about the service package & cost.

He told me it's cheap & all Mazda's car no need to change gear oil thro' out the car life span.

After hearing from him, we walk out & drive to Honda showroom to book a city.

 

On our way out, I told the salesman : "now i knew why many of my friend driving mazda must change their car automatic gear box after 5 gears"

 

AD don't change ATF but hey only change whole gear box (not so troublesome ma, only 1 time work only)

Whats so good abt Mazda's safety? Fist and foremost, Japanese cars are not well known for their safety. They can boast all they want on their safety but when u wrap the tree, u will hope that u were in a conti car.

 

Style, just looks like a facelifted Mazda 3.

 

Performance, nothing to shout about. 1.6 105bhp no big deal.

 

For that price range, I would rather look at the following cars: VW Golf 1.4 122bhp , Fiat Bravo 1.4 T-Jet 150bhp, Peugeot 308 Turbo 140bhp (VW and Fiat 1.4L rd tax) If I'm not looking at performance, Renault Megane is cheap too, but looks dated.

 

I think you are another one that doesn't do research properly and jump into conclusion without justification again. I didn't say mazda 3 is safety. If you follow the thread properly, I answering back to someone who simply say "with the same price , I can get a conti car the is better in safety...blar...blar...blar........." So I question him back how he justify his statement. which conti car at 67k is having those attributes. Same thing to you, how do u manage to get those car which you have mentioned above at 67k?

 

If you have followed the thread closed again, I have already mentioned dont only use Power or FC to judge the car as a consumer preference. Not all ppls buy car because it has those attribute. Ppls bought Mazda 3 are those who are attracted to the look. If you want to compare, pls compare with car that is better looking than Mazda. However, look is alway subjective to individual taste.

 

All I can say is that new Mazda 3 look (something similar look as porsche frog face) is something that no other car at its current similar cat is having. That maybe how MM think it is justifiable for them to charge their new car price at 67k for the basic car package

Like I say before, how can a sport looking car be spacious? Mazda 3 back seat will alway be crampy if they alway want to look sporty. Think of those coupe with only 2 doors. Do you think their rear sit is ever spacious and have spacious boot too? Also does coupe has good FC?

 

Pls dont buy Mazda 3 if those are your criteria. Their selling point is look and handling only.

 

BTW, those are not my criteria in the past, but my criteria now. So, my next ride will not be Mazda 3 but will be car like Skoda the Superb. without sporty look and striking color anymore but trade that with Performance, FC, spacious, conti and luxuary

Though City is made in thai, i drove my brother-in-law GE6.. i couldnt find the GE6 any better than my City... both look sama sama... similar plastic works with dull finishing just like mine..

 

just drive the car... whether its MIT, MIJ, or MIC or MIK car... so long it doesnt give u major problems over the yrs.. it consider a good car...

Honda engine did dominate the F1s during the 80s..that is where the original VTEC technology came from..and remember, their VTEC DID take the automobile industry by storm..that's something which can't be denied..

Back to square again. VTEC and FC. If we are not going to race in singapore and got money to buy petrol, what is better off from H badge car which demand higher price than it's peer?

 

Not everyone drives in Singapore ONLY..there's a place called Sepang and Pasir Gudang..run there and you'll see the difference between the different brands..

that answers it..but sadly, the truth is..the new m3 really is overpriced..

 

Honda can price their cars higher than others(based on OMV) because it has a very good track record of designing and building "driver's cars"..Toyota can still sell their cars(no matter how crappy it is) simply because they're still considered as no 1 choice for bread and butter cars..Subaru and Mitsubishi has their rallying pedigree to show..

 

but fact is, other than the much coveted RX-7 and RX-8, there's nothing much..

mazda has good handling..yes..but what is it without a good engine to provide the power?

Looking at the spec provided by mazda, 1.6L churning out 105bhp is nothing to shout about(as contrast, my current 6yo 1.5L Civic churns out the same power, and that is 6yo technology)..factor in the 1.2tonne weight, it will feel like a brick..Even the Cerato's 1.6L engine has 124bhp. Similary, 2L producing 147bhp..c'mon, they can do better than that..

That might be it. They know women spends the most nowadays whether the money comes from themselves or their spouses. So it makes sense to make a car that woman wants. Sneaky marketers...
