Picanto 3rd Gear May 7, 2009 Share May 7, 2009 Sorry to be blunt on who are you to condem that Mazda is inferior to civic. In other countries, ppls does not view that. This only happened to singaporean where some even think that as long as it is H or T badge, even though it is made in Tom Yam, it is still more premium. Take a look at the below link on how other country rated Mazda 3 vs Civic. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans...on/results.html other countries we dun bother. we are in spore and only the H brand can command such premium. but since a lot ppl mention that 1st batch sold out, we have to see how it goes. See... definitely... they are not targeting the wise ppl in this forum... They are shooting for those that are just passionate about being exclusive and being the first.... targetting those that the advert is saying.. wanted to adored by their beauty ride.. though the beauty part is very subjective... I doubt his 2 friends are in MCF... ...as I say before... at the of the day, the AD makes the money from this crazy pricing.. and that's business. * steady high speed cruising is true to Maz.. cannot seems to say the same for the some other J rides... they can reach the speed and probably faster but not the stability, it's not the intended purpose of such model.. Axela72 5th Gear May 7, 2009 Share May 7, 2009 (edited) 2 of my friend just book a mazda 3... both trade-in their COE car... after test drive honda, toyota... they buy mazda 3... Can you share what is the price they pay for the car? The price tag can be 76k but if actual purchase price is below 70k, then those bro that keep saying Mazda3 is more ex than civic can take back their words. I heard ppls manage to purchase the car at 67k. For Kahmotor, I know that their price is usually quite fix. We can't bargin much for discount. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10128 Take note that Civic 1.6L is also above 70k on price tag Edited May 7, 2009 by Axela72
Rickster 5th Gear May 7, 2009 Share May 7, 2009 That's very true.... 76K for 1.6L 105 BHP car ??? Juz went down to mazda's showroom yesterday. The price reflected on SGcarmart is way too high. Rickster 5th Gear May 7, 2009 Share May 7, 2009 any specific reasons they go for the 3? They want to be the first to own this model and willing to part with more $ in order to do so. If i were to buy a mazda, i would steer clear of all their new models and only start to look at them after they r at least 6 months in the market. Price didnt drop unless due to COE impact. Pls compare civic 1.6L (73k) with Jetta (73.8k) instead then. Edited May 7, 2009 by Axela72

Yaloryalor 5th Gear May 7, 2009 Share May 7, 2009 IMHO, I think the crux of why some forumers feel peeved about the new Mazda 3 pricing is based on 2 points: 1. Mazda price policy seems to price very high when launched, then drop their price dramatically 6-12 months down the road. I know many or all car dealers do this esp to catch the "buyers who die die want to drive new model" market but Mazda price drop appears to be the one of the steepest of all. 2. Mazda 3 2.0L pricing is on par with a few conti models like Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 TSI, Opel Astra, Ford Mondeo. As Mazda's selling point is not Vtec engine but it's "handling and conti-feel", so some forumers would naturally think: "why not get a real conti car instead of a Japanese car with conti-feel?" However, I believe in the end it's all up to the buyer as buying a car is a very personal decision. I'm just trying to bring some objectivity into this discussion Cheers Good points! Accord 2L cost 93k..and although it's a luxurious executive car..there are less features when compared to 2L Civic..2L Civic has HID, VSA, Paddleshift, cruise control etc.. Mr Picanto last I checked you do not represent Singapore car owners. So dont marginalize my already limited rights as a Singaporean thanks. In my own personal opinion H brand to me is just to con those wannabe executives who thinks that H is a great brand and should command so called Premiums.
