Twisted beliefs mangled with religious beliefs

I'm sure many in this forum had come across such ppl. No less than the recent upheaval in an NGO that involves itself in social issues that caused such a furore, which I really can't be bothered about.

 

But on closer examination, the whole issue was cuased by a few individuals who are afflicted with the above issue.

 

The thing is...this so called twisted outlook coupled with non rational religious beliefs is 'infectious' particulrly to those sharing the same beliefs.

 

I'm glad the thing didn't blow so out of proportion that authoriites had to interevene....with a strong hand.

 

The sinister thing about this is.... such ppl hover within the system that had served them so well for so long, without the authorities excercising a pre-emptive strike onto them before they go about destroying the very pillars of support which they had thrive on.

 

My only hope is that there will always be more.... well balanced viewed ppl with clear rational thoughts that serve to govern this place so that ultimately, tolerance and well placed policies will make this the ideal place for many to call home.

In the American civil war, churches cited numerous pro-slavery verses in the Bible as justification for slavery.

 

There are also passages in the Old and New Testament that admonish slaves to obey their masters.

Titus 2:9-10 Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our savior.

 

Let's not even start about the witches, Crusades and th Inquistion.
