Ahbengdriver 6th Gear May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 (edited) Ah Beng has a stupid question. Has anyone witha TC car sprayed their aluminium intercooler from aluminium colour to matt black or dull black? Does it hinder the efficiency of the intercooler if the paint was very thin? Does it hinder the efficiency of the intercooler if the paint was very thin? nope it shouldnt . even some aftermarket intercoolers came pre-painted with colours or anodised . and if you realize those HKS/Blitz/APS , the wordings are sprayed on as well.so it shouldnt have any bad effects on it. Dwoon 1st Gear May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 Buy the spray which is supposed to aid in thermal transfer. Costs $150 and can be sprayed onto I/C, radiator, etc. It'll turn the I/C white though.
Mustank Hypersonic May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 does it help in anyway if i ask the car wash guy to use high power water spray to wash the intercooler, the radiator and the air con fins ince a week?
B0ss Neutral Newbie May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 I doubt so... probably the force of the jet spray is gona push the dirt further into the cavities of the fins. And u will also see lots of steam (evaporation of the water from ur intercooler)...

Xtc_exist Neutral Newbie May 26, 2009 Share May 26, 2009 for me , its quite logical that spraying of intercooler will hinder the efficiency of the intercooler . just my 2cents

Bighappyjer 1st Gear July 23, 2009 Share July 23, 2009 To add on, 100-110 is too high.. I believe EO loses the lubricating properties around 110-120, please correct me if i'm wrong. Ideal temperature is 75-85.
Achtung 6th Gear July 23, 2009 Share July 23, 2009 Thats high for normal day to day driving. Use an oil cooler. Also, what kinda oil u using? Hello, sorry side track abit. Achtung 6th Gear July 23, 2009 Share July 23, 2009 If it is cereamic coating, then black is fine. Else, I find black absorbs heat more than any other colours. One bro here mentioned white coating. That is Boron Nitrite and it helps to diffuse heat better. Ah Beng has a stupid question. Ultramega 1st Gear July 23, 2009 Share July 23, 2009 Ah Beng has a stupid question. Has anyone witha TC car sprayed their aluminium intercooler from aluminium colour to matt black or dull black? Does it hinder the efficiency of the intercooler if the paint was very thin? Obviously it will hinder la. Take your own body as example. When you finish playing a sport like soccer, you go to the side and take off your shirt, feel cooler right? Doesn't matter that your shirt is Dri-Fit or whatever...you WILL feel cooler without it. But if you die die want to paint, don't use normal paint. Must use high temp paint else you will see black smoke and smell chemical burning when you drive. Ultramega 1st Gear July 23, 2009 Share July 23, 2009 nope it shouldnt . even some aftermarket intercoolers came pre-painted with colours or anodised . and if you realize those HKS/Blitz/APS , the wordings are sprayed on as well.so it shouldnt have any bad effects on it. I do not agree. You are like saying this jacket looks good on me, it will look good on you too. But it may not be true. Pre-painted intercoolers are probably tested with good results when they are PAINTED. Likewise, non-painted ones are most likely tested when not painted. So if you paint them there is no gaurantee that you get the same results. Simple logic. However it does not mean the results will be bad, just that they might be different. ↡ Advertisement
