Kyojin 1st Gear May 3, 2009 Share May 3, 2009 LOL I take it that you are driving an Edix? It's a K20A engine right? if so, it's timing chain, so no replacement needed.

Mikeyeo Clutched May 3, 2009 Share May 3, 2009 anyone knows when should the timing belt be changed? i.e at 80k, 90k or 100k? Thanks. Hi 'Edix73', you mentioned that your car manual is in Japanese. Even if it's in English, the manual is a guide only and due to normal wear and tear, the belt might be loosen. The best is whenever you sent your car for servicng, get the mechanic to check the timing belt and tension.

I just sent my car for servicing today and the mechanic advised me to change my timing belt. Gonna to knock me off $550 to change the belt, pump, etc. Any bros / sisters can advise of this is reasonable? Thanks!

Edix73 Neutral Newbie May 4, 2009 Author Share May 4, 2009 yup, sounds reasonable, labour all in,wif water pump, timing belts, all axillary belts, tensioners(half moons) That's what I thought as well, quite reasonable. One of my friend went JB to hv the belt change, half price! haha! Personally don't really like the idea of gg into JB...
Kb27 Supersonic May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 Depends on how much you want to save and how much risks you want to take. I bought timing belt package set from stockists for my car which costs around $200, including water pumps, all belts, tensioner, seals, etc. Then I bring them over to JB to change. The labour is around rm100. But the risks of a bad job and possible trouble you might get is there.

Ghostami 2nd Gear May 5, 2009 Share May 5, 2009 WA!!!! 150K!!! What car did you previously drive? So durable... I change mine every 60K as I go up North quite often. Don't wanna risk the damages it will cause if the belt breaks... ↡ Advertisement
