Steering getting more stiff

My Magentis by nature has a hard steering which I prefer. But lately it requires a lot more effort to steer as compare to before.

 

Car has been serviced not too long ago. What else can cause this ?

My guess is that additionally there are strange noises when you turn the wheel.

 

Did you replace the steering fuild recently?

 

Please check under your bonnet of any signs of leaks. I had the same prob last year after AD servicing.

 

They did not tighten the hydraulic connection to the steering rack. Found Steering fluid was leaking out while I was at Malacca.

 

I made the mistake of trying to make a dash back to Singapore(did not realise the rootcause of the prob then).

 

If you encounter the same, check the hydraulic hose connections esp at the steering rack, return line and any drop in reservior fluid.

 

On a good note, my steering pump is still working till today, even after running dry (at least it was wet with some oil) for a good 150km.
