look at the crowd at the NATAS or any travel shows and the number of people signing up tour packages, and how many singaporean in japan, korea, europe and everywhere in the world (not only during sch holiday!), chances of meeting one sporean overseas/even the most ulu place is very very high  [laugh]

look at the take up rate at any property launch and how fast they were taken up, COE is not surprisingly liao.

Car is expensive, condo lagi expensive, can’t afford country club membership, so spend on experience and holidays. It is not just in Singapore but our crazy inflation and strong Singapore Dollar definitely makes a holiday in Japan, Malaysia, Bangkok and China too good to forgo.

Yes Singaporeans are cooped up here if they dont go out so they will. Especially when the SgD is so strong.
where in Asia isnt cheap for us?

even London and Paris also not really expensive today.

many people i know have given up the idea of owning a car or condo, which isnt a bad thing.   There will always be those who continue to slap their faces swollen to look fat, its not our business now and its not our business when they f**k up either.

Travel to see the world is something one should do within their means and lifetime. Not necessarily staying in 5-star hotel or shopping for branded stuff but more to experience how other lives and what we miss in this little red dot. We can appreciate better on what we have and what we don't.

I agree on the above.  I like learning, and I think seeing the world is one of the ways to gain different perspective in our knowledge and thinking.

But I did that when I was young like in my early 30s..  I strategized to travel the far countries first because the far ones need more energy and will be much cheaper when one do it early.  I see a lot of people do it opposite.....when young they go nearby countries, and when old and retired, they start going the far ones. 😗

Yeah, i can attest to this.

i Bought nothing at all during my trip.  Only expense was lodging, food transport and fares for attraction if any.

a lot of relaxed walking, enjoying the cool weather and nice scenery, soaking in the local vibes and of course the cheap high quality food.

i did buy a charging cable for RMB20 though…..muayhahhahhahhah
