Thought will complete in 2039 ? Same project ?

......Located in Thailand’s southern Ranong province, the 90km bridge, which is expected to be fully completed in 2039 at a total cost of RM130 billion, will have potential implications for Malaysia’s economy and strategic positioning.

Think is land port....the poringinal plan was to build a canal and cut thru the peninsula.....now it seems to be building 2 ports at the opposite end and connect by land bridge(could be high speed train or road expressway)...that's my understanding...

if it comes thru...Msia and SG will be screwed...

From cost perspective, there is no saving.

From time perspective, it will take longer to load and unload.

as i said before, as employees, we are all working towards retrenchment becos there will always come a time when you either become too expensive or you get played out by someone higher up.   the best time to get retrenched is at the end of your career then you walk away with a nice decent tax free package.

otherwise it is also good to be retrenched in the middle of the career, becos it keeps you grounded and helps you reassess your priorities and your focus in career and life.

so Retrenchment is good.......

Its logistic nightmare. Can it work? Yes if everyone super on the ballz and (mostly) corruption free like Sg.

Will it work? No. See above.

Will be giant white elephant graveyard if they ever get it done most likely wont even finish as investors chicken out after delays and cost overrun

Aiyah you see Malaysia build Tanjung Pelepas right next to us, how much impact did it have?

It had 11.2 million TEU in 2021 and we had more than 3 times of that. All on basically the same geography…

Governance…

Thialand may be different ball game, if their political landscape can be stabilised, they can be very competitive,  just look at those Jap automotove manufacturing, others like  nikon, canon etc , many of them are there and are thriving.

The way I see it - 山高皇帝远. The south is more unstable than the rest of the country due to the ongoing insurgency.

Their monarchy and corruption cannot be resolved in 1 generation. Let's see in 2074 what happens 😆

Retrenchment before reach retirement age is good.  My wife got colleague worked 40 over years for same mnc but did not get severance package like some other colleagues. When she reached retirement age, company converted her to contract, and did not renew the contract after 1 year.  She poor thing end up lugi a lot, not high position and not rich also.. haiz..
