gahmen erected so many ERP gantries and ppl jz protests in MCF? petrol prices went up, no riot/protests? guai guai swallow saliva right?

I think there is certain truth to it with regards to the chewing gum. Maybe the younger generation din encounter before. But a bit too direct. Tats all.

On the one hand, I know that he made the speech stating that chinese people "need to be controlled" with the intention of s*cking up to china's leaders esp since his latest film was frowned upon by the china govt. Then he probably carried on with a couple more examples, off-the-cuff, then accidentally included singapore also...

 

But then again, you would tend to agree with his observation that strict laws are needed, especially to control our youth nowadays, when you hear of incidents like this:

Simply put, society here is too scared to speak up and correct the situation on the spot. Everybody pretends to mind his own business. So of course the law has to step in.

Like any Singaporean I was apprehensive when I saw the headline, but after reading the comments, it is quite the reality. from an outsider's perspective, this is what he sees, and we must open our minds to that.
