Toyota Voxy/Noah/Esquire

Did you guys worry about resale value when buying the Voxy/Noah? Just wondering if I would be able to even sell off say after 5-6 years of usage.

Looking in the used car section in car mart, you hardly find Noah's on sale...saying that there is one weird one that is practically brand new & registered in Sep 2014 that seems to be hanging around..

but generally given the car's scarcity...it actually works to your advantage....i sold my Isis(pretty scarce & niche market too..compared to Wish etc ) at minimal depreciation...(high COE period did help too) dealer made no issues about the model, scratches, condition even...i think in SG most dealers used car companies take in any car with the hope of making money it's only a matter of how much they can make off your car.

now of you check models like Wish, Estima in sgcarmart, the are multiple pages of available cars...with multiple registration dates

I did little homework when selling my old car so ended up with more $$ to the dealers pocket

On my old car, I understand that the old ride was sold at ST car expo!! imagine that car buyer went to an expo & signed on the paper for a USED car very telling of our Singapore consumers ..willing to shell $70 plus thousand on car's exterior & a salesman's word!

back to your question..worry about resale...personally i have no worries scarce supply of Noah/Voxy/Esquire + SG car buyers will fuel used car sales guys to increase stocks!. [:)]

The used voxy in sgcarmart was sold within a month. Dealer sale. Based on price was asking for $13k to $14k per year. Maybe deal $13k or lower.

The noah took a little longer. 2 months. The asking price was higher.

Agar agar based on memory. Was monitoring.

My ex car, vanguard is also rare. Sold within the day on advertising at sgcarmart. Owner sale. Slightly above $14k per year.

My view is that rare but good quality cars may appear even more attractive and can stand out from commonly used cars. Probably dealers don't mind taking it.... But I have vested interest as I have just gotten an esquire :-)

Peta and z any idea how to do a pearl white touch up?

I checked my color code at the door is 070. Autobacs has 070 but stated as blizzard pearl. Funny thought it's pearl white. Also when applied... do not see any pearl effect. Just plain white... read somewhere that pearl must be done by workshop... some three stage thingy

Looked this up as I might go for pearl white if I pick up of these triplets.

Came across this in amazon.com:

Pearl is a 3 layer paint job and this bottle (Dupli-Color TY01626 White Pearl)is for the mid coat. In other words, you must also buy 040 (Dupli-Color TY01556 Super White II) for the base coat and then clear coat (Dupli-Color NGSF125 Clear) for the top coat.

Thanks all for the feedback. Needed more assurance that I could go with this car and not regret later. I think being a Toyota, there shouldn't be much problem selling in future.

Been looking at various mpv but keep coming back to these triplets. I really like these features:

- spaciousness of cabin

- efficient 2l engine

- flexible 3rd row. This is important as I have 3 kids and all 3 can sit comfortably with 1 rear seat folded to allow more boot space.

- moderately priced.

Are most owner here on 7 or 8 seater? What is the deciding factor for 7 or 8 seats?

The review for the mid coat was quite bad... the base coat should be 070? my car door panel states 070

the price is staggering expensive!

Hi Ckchow13,

7 more expensive. I dunno why. Went online research for reasons, asked dealer, cant get a decent answer. Probably its industry way of setting price after certain events or conditions that happened eons ago

I used to think 1 more seat shold be more expensive. I can only go by guess that cos captain seats cost price higher? And captain seats are in fact more cushiony and body hugging = more comfortable. Captain seats are separated from each other, so more privact, sense of space = luxurious = pay more

additionally, for this model, middle row can push all the way back, meaning u have a super long cabin space. my legs when fully sketched out, could not touch the front seat. Now tell me, what other cars can do this? Even SIA biz class seat cannot. No idea for 1st class

I think the mid-coat review was bad because people did not use the first and third coat! They expect one coat will deliver the pearl effect - and that's not the case.

7 seater although the bad point is sit one person less. And also whether seating one person at last row more often than not is a safety issue.

1. Middle row can shift all the way to the back when 3rd row is kept up. 8 seaters can't. Length of middle row block by wheel base.

2. Ability to stagger middle row. One shifted all the way back when 3rd row is kept. Allows groceries space at 2nd row. Allows more space for stepping in and out. Also provides space to change kids in the car. The other seat shifted more to the front so that 3rd row can have one seat down to sit another.

3. Ability to walk through from front row all the way to the back. Eg umbrella kept at boot can walk through to retrieve for use without getting wet. Or if you have young kids, need to park and sooth them without opening any doors.

4. The comfort of captain seats. Yes pay more for the arm rest and left right up down gliding functions. 8 seaters cannot glide left right. 7 seaters can also sit 8 on special occasions. Just join the captain sit and place a thin cushion in between. Bad Is No seat belt when sit 3. That's why only for bopian days.

Not sure about the triplets, but I went BM to check out Previa before. Was surprised when first heard from SE that 7-seater is i think 3-5K more than 8-seater...

For Previa, 7-seater is luxury c.f. to 8-seater. It is higher-spec. things i can remember:

- more comfortable seats for 2 captain seats, prob with leg rest, arm rest.

- climate control (got digital, press button type) rear aircon for 7-seater; only turn-knob type for 8-seater

- think 7-seater driver seat is electronic but 8-seater is manual (can't be absolutely sure as it was so long ago…)

Ody also 7-seater more ex, so i guess this is the industry norm. 7-seater is more exclusive so they charge more...

So many things are much better than wish. Can write essay. Think u can go read users reviews on sgcarmart.

Both in terms of space and functions. Heaven and earth difference. Was happy to bid farewell to the wish.. a Def upgrade.

Of course u can consider other similar cars like biante. Not trying to be fan boy and I believe no one like fanboyism. I have done quite a comprehensive research on all mpv sold here and decided to go for this model based on my needs and budget

2 things I like to ask in terms of comparison with wish:

1) Does Esquire (i think should be the same for the triplets) vibrate like wish when stationary?

2) Does Esquire (i think should be the same for the triplets) roll back like wish when on even not v steep slope?

tks...

I am using the 7 seater too, like Peta & MPV lover covered many + points for the 7 versus the 8 but if you look at your family & who you ferry often, this might be the deciding factor

95% of the time my car carries x 4 persons, when i need to add another 4 persons this 7 seater becomes a 8 seater [cool] so i did not have a dilemma ordering a 7 seater

Yes safety debate & arguments aside it can comfortably(all comfy except for the kid in the middle row) carry x 2 primary school kids, +6 adults ...tried n tested when my in laws & their fiends came to visit.

BTW, when i was after my bolt at the stockist, i checked out the 3 & 2 seater. from my amateur knowledge appears that aside from the seats can be swapped,,,the seat tracks are all similar only the 3 seater & 2 seater are different & of course some corresponding bolts, parts etc

.after 2 years & with a 7 seater & you want to change to a 8 seater, you can physically do (i think) only problem is

1. LTA approval - (car registered as a 7 seater)

2. Insurance

3. The cost of the seats!

The triplets are built on the same platform, main differences are skin deep only..you can change to Noah to a Voxy is you can afford the $4000 plus to swap the fender, bumper & external radiator grrill ;-) opps for Voxy gotta change headlights too so plus maybe another $500...but the rest ....transformers ...Noah X to (SI) Sports Edition or Esquire or vice versa.

I ordered from http://www.ezytouchup.com. $28.45 for base and pearl. Cheap. Lets see how the gamble turns out.

Please report back! lol..try to take a video ;-)

1. No vibration. I think all cars when new don't vibrate. Only when engine mounting weakens, then vibration comes. I'm surprised wish vibrates though. Is it because you sat on an old one.

2. No roll back.

3. Just to add that in terms of seat comfort, 3rd row seats are a bit hard because it's quite thin for folding up. You can buy your own cushion to place. But 3rd row seats sit 3 and some how position higher than 2nd row. So passengers have nice view of front.

4. For those buying voxy noah doest come with leather seats. Repeat - think twice about stripping and replace with cheap leather. Get the money back and wrap when fabric is worn out.

Not sure about the 09 wish and the current wish (both of which have the same shell, but i think 09 one doesn't come with keyless, 6 airbags and all, even though it's the same shell), but for the first gen Wish (called the Pre-FaceLift) and the FL, they both vibrate noticeably even when new. Not the diesel taxi of old, type but is clearly felt. This can be reduced significantly, but still worse off than the G9 Corolla that I had before the wish, if you switch on the light, even if only the pole light. That's what I normally do.

That was a widely-discussed topic for wish when first launched, and when it was so popular. Some says it 'rocks' [sly]

Roll back was a disappointment, prob bigger one, and nothing helps. Made worse as it's foot (instead of hand) brake. When on slope want to move off, it's a challenge. The 1.0 subaru justy i used to drive was able to stay still on mscp slope, but wish couldn't...

But i've lived with it for 9+ yr [:)]
