Latioboy 1st Gear April 22, 2009 Author Share April 22, 2009 if you really want to know, it's the beginning of the southwest monsoon. high pressure systems beginning to form over australia and low pressure over east asia. blows past sumatra and singapore. most of the rain falls on sumatra, so we get sporadic bursts of whatever is left in the cloud system. if not for sumatra, we'll probably get it as bad as india when the real big ones hit in june. thankyou bro for your informative information! haha! Happily1986 5th Gear April 22, 2009 Share April 22, 2009 question . if car being flattened by a fallen tree, can claim insurance or not ? depends on situation directly causing tree's fall. Example, if tree has been found to be termite infested or pest ridden therefore making it a risk hazard, the owner of the land of which the tree sits on is responsible. If say this tree is on private property, you can claim insurance, insurers sue the private property owner. there has been at least one legal precedent before i vaguely remember. But a case when the government is the owner of the land... i am afraid that there hasn't been a precedent of a successful claim. In any other case where it is considered a freak accident where the tree falls/topple without any clear reasons attributing whatsoever, it is regarded as Act of God e.g. lightning strike, strong wind... No claims are entertained.

Vextan 1st Gear April 22, 2009 Share April 22, 2009 thanks for the explanation, happily1986. but what is the rationale behind the no-claim policy for act of god ? shouldnt it be covered since it is not intentional , like an accident ? doesnt make sense. Act of God is defined as an catastrophic event that is beyond the control of man in terms of occurrence and scale. When it comes to acts of God, Insurers usually insure only when events are unforeseeable. When events are foreseeable (i.e. you are asking for it to allow yourself for not taking measures), there is no grounds for claims.
