Tas0577 1st Gear July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 I think only Komoco knows because Singapore has pretty weird pricing - e.g. in most countries, the WRX STI, Evo X and Golf R32 are all priced around the same, but in Singapore, Volkswagon & Mitsubishi expect a lot of margin for their cars. I have read that in the States, the 3.8l V6 Track model is priced below the WRX STI. If Kodomo is agressive (and I am hoping they are), maybe they will price below 100K (current price of STI abt 105K). To me, if the 3.8l V6 is above 100K, I think the WRX STI is a betta buy. Even the Evo X can be had for 110-120K from PI nowadays, so I think pricing the 3.8l V6 track model above 100K would be a very silly move. It would probably give PIs room to compete. The 2.0T Track and Spec R should be very competitively priced. I am hoping better than WRX 2.5 (which is about 85K?). Let's hope Komoco takes the chance to price it right, capture the market and turn Hyundai branding around. If they get greedy and price high, no one buys it, and the brand benefits dissappear. Don't think Komoco will price it lower just like the way they priced their Avante when they initially launched compared to the price C & C launched the Kia Cerato Forte. C & C will definitely launched the Kia Koup competitively as Komoco is not as financially rich compared to C & C.

Rliewky 1st Gear March 11, 2010 Share March 11, 2010 Anyone got any updates to share if there's a RHD Genesis or when will it come to our shore? They will be a RHD genesis coupe by end of the year if i recall correctly but no idea if that will be coming to singapore, maybe next year? need to check with hyundai AD but i hope it come
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 11, 2010 Share March 11, 2010 Hyundai Korea only start making RHD units starting for Hong Kong market from oct this year... by the time it makes it to singapore, it'll arrive probably next year... and yes...not many people buy Kia/Hyundai in the US, cos an equivalent japanese car cost about the same, and a conti car a few more thousands more only...... but do bear in mind the Genesis Coupe does come with 2.0Turbo, 3.8V6 and 4.6V8 and Sport 4.6V8... even if the 3.8V6 version is priced the same as the WRX STi at around $115k, it's still a steal right??? getting a V6 engine for turbocharged 4cyl prices...... Mandan Neutral Newbie March 11, 2010 Share March 11, 2010 Dammn...juz saw this report..Was going to book e Kia Koup already..But after seeing this, hesitant, but looking at it price would exceed 70k huh? Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 11, 2010 Share March 11, 2010 Kia Koup 2.0L lor...$70k your budget... Koup and Genesis different car.... Koup for style only...drive is decent too actually, but lacks outright power... Genesis is for performance people, but i still think the KOup looks nicer than the Genesis Coupe.... it's your money, it's your choice. if i were you, Koup for me... unless you don't want to see your car so often on the roads... cos the Koup is getting really popular on our roads!!! cheers!!! Thanks for your reply bro...i reckon Genesis is gonna be over my budget either anyway, and always been a person more keen on autostyling i.e sights and sounds than performance, thus going with my heart and going with koup..Cheers
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear March 11, 2010 Share March 11, 2010 Actually i gotta admit, the Koup is really a stylish car and worth every penny of your money... i dunno, but previously i thought the Koup was just a poor man's BMW 3-series coupe, who just wanna pose in front of anybody... but i gotta admit seriously, the Koup somehow looks much more presentable and stylish than the 3-series coupe...after seeing lots of it on the road... so 1.6L version for the budget conscious, who just want style over substance, 2.0L for those who want a bit more go, upcoming 2.0Turbo for those who want image with performance... i quite like the Lime Green colour, but the showroom unit was like primary colour, not metallic, so quite disappointed... the salesperson say RAcing REd is the most popular colour... so what colour are you getting??? cheers!!! I tink e koup's has potential to be done up more sleekly, gonna miss my current ride though, as was first car, thus spent alot of effort on it..completely way off from stock nw in terms of apperance and sound..Not so sure if i still hve e time and effort with new ride..Juz returned from shrowroom, getting white with red seats and interior thrown in by SE.. Always liked white,my current aveo is also white. other colours juz dun seem to catch my eyes :-P Not saying Lime Green aint nice, juz not my cuppa tea..to each his own..Cheers
