Ryanyusoff 2nd Gear April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 I would gladly appreciate if there are any Swift technical experts could help me in this.My ride is Swift '07 1.3MT. Scenario: Was travelling home as per normal at SLE.approaching Mandai exit, slowed down and dropped gear from 5 to 4.While the clutch is still depressed and slight braking and maneuvering the corner, out of sudden, the engine totally dies off! No power,no lights,no aircon and even worse, power steering is also lost! For a full 3 seconds,i was not in control of the car. Then out of a sudden, everything went back on and the engine restarted by itself!I thank God that my family is safe and nothing happened while i'm taking the corner. The question is,what causes it to happen?Battery is fine(less than 6 mths old),no professional ICE(juz radio HU),normal Pivot (blue) VS with grounding. No hardcore modifications done, only got SIMOTA carbon air filter. Can any bros here help me on this?I heard from a friend that there are Swift owners who experienced the same problem with me.What is the exact problem?I think i need to rectify it ASAP coz i always go up north and don't want anything serious to happen(touch wood!) Many thanks in advance ↡ Advertisement

Boyboy 1st Gear April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 u don't need power steering lah. brakes also should have more than enuff vacuum to stop u. if engine dies, don't pump your brakes. each time u press and let go, ur vacuum is depleted. if u hold it there for long time, it's ok if on a straight and nobody behind u, u can try to clutch out and crank. if still cannot, can try to clutch in to kick start the engine. should work lei but better go get it checked ASAP. preferably WS with OBDII reader. or dealer is the best la

Maffie Neutral Newbie April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 how much bigger, compared to your original, is your air intake? If it is much bigger, you will need a tune. What's your idle like? If your engine dies during hard cornering, may be also due to your fuel pump not having the capabilities to deliver when you are pulling yours Gs in the corner, or cause a fuel cut when you are at high rpm... this can cause your engine to stall. But then I don't think you're cornering that hard on the expressway right? It can also be that the ignition coil is failing. When the coil is failing it tends to overheat during prolonged driving and cause the engine to stall...
Fortress Clutched April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 It sounded like a fuel starvation issue. Had an experience like this before but not on a Suzuki. In my case, there was some water in the fuel line, due to the pump station

Yeshe Turbocharged April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 To TS, I have experience this but on my very old toyota panel van more than 10 yrs ago. When corner clutch depress confirm engine die, if clutch not depress engine will stay alive. Send to workshop check nobody can identify whats the cause of the problem. Since old car, so heck care. For yours i think should check with agent. But engine restart by itself abit strange

Err yeah. Auto car. But how does an engine automatically revive itself in a car? Be it manual or auto? And why would I want to clock posts? There are no benefits for having more posts. Chibibotto 1st Gear April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 In a manual car, if the car is in gear and the car is in motion, release the clutch pedal is sufficient to start the car back. This is the same as pushing start a car. Engage gear, step on clutch, push car, release clutch, car started. ↡ Advertisement
