Mouse Neutral Newbie April 17, 2009 Share April 17, 2009 Dear All, My ride is OPC n due to my low usage on it, my mileage currently is only about 8.3K (car is now 2 yrs++ old). My last servicing was done about 1yr ago (5K servicing) n I am still on Mineral Oil. Should I hold till my mileage hit 10K or should I send in asap (I remember my last 5K servicing, the mechanics paste a sticker stating next service period is either 3mths or 10K) I have been asking around, some told me usually OPC owner will peg their servicing session to time period (ie. Mineral Oil 3 mths, syn oil 6mths) while there r others whom told me to only send it in based on the mileage achieved. Any Advice? Thanks ** Pls dun mock at me for buying a car n not using it often. Some tragic stuff happened in the family that kinda of screwed up my initial plans on the car usage. ↡ Advertisement

Sabian Turbocharged April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 I am also facing the same situation as you. I keep to the servicing schedule but the engine oil I change every 6 months since I rarely hit 10k in 6 mth. If that is confusing, take it that I send my car in for the usual 10k interval but if my oil does not hit 6 mths or 10k ( whichever comes first), I ask the mech to leave my oil alone as I track it seperately. Jeff49er Clutched April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 YOur mileage is very low. My OPC is 6 months old and I have cloced 8000km. I use the car every weekend and some week nites and even driven to KL twice. My service schedule is due soon but I wait for 10,000 km. At the rate u r ussing, it is good to service every 5000km or every 6 months.
Peqasus 1st Gear April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 my OPC case. i stick to recommended time or mileage interval whichever comes first. if time is reached, i'll jus do an oil change without changing the filter. rite now at 15K after 1.5 yrs. using long life fully sync oil interval with 1 yr change interval. figured engine repair costs more than engine oil. even my trusty 6 yr old bike. jus stick to the oil change interval and it will serve u faithfully. Amortifiedpenguin Clutched April 18, 2009 Share April 18, 2009 i normally do my own servicing checks (brake pads, suspension, fan belt etc) and top-ups (ATF, dot-4, H2O) then send the car for oil & filter change. cos i cant drain oil anyhow in singapore. then i go back to my used car dealer pay the boss $90 for draining engine oil, new syn oil, oil filter, tip mechanic $10. im using 10w50 long life full syn. They ask me come back aft 10k. Its quite affordable so may go back every 5+K to change. only prob is that running in period for the new oil affects performance and increases FC. Other than that i'll inspect fluid levels on a weekly basis. tire rotation when im free i call my friend take out car jack diy. and always have a 1.5L bottle of water just incase. may not be for your own vehicle. once my friend's subaru imp ran low on coolant in reservoir and wiper water he drink my whole bottle. army driver, used to doing FPT and WPT. dang. Kurty Supercharged May 4, 2009 Share May 4, 2009 darkblue, i don't really understand what you mean.. i just got my ride, opc, 3 yrs usage of 11k, was given 1 free servicing. went down to the workshop on sat, the mechanic said the car was in tip top condition, for my ride. need not to monitor much.. just look at the engine oil, the blue color coil (dunnoe the name) and brake oil.. thinking of going jb to get it down if due, as i heard it's much cheaper and my ride is a m'sia make. ↡ Advertisement
