Sktan10 5th Gear May 3, 2009 Share May 3, 2009 Exactly ... on specs Magentis should be more powerful .. but tested it, followed by Forte, the latter seems to be more willing to go. Even wife also noticed that. Perhaps I did not really step hard for the Magentis, thinking it's a "lux" ride, it should be driven in that "relax" manner Verna price was lower than Avante back then ? I am contemplating ... or should I be reverting back to my original plan - a 1.6L sedan I think partly becos of the weight.Magentis should be more heavy thus good for high speed driving. Yes!Avante was high price than verna back then but with extra one more yr loan should settle everything. If u choose 1.6,then forte is a good choice with the price tag. If u choose 2.0,then magentis should be better than 2L forte. Pls dont compare accord, camry etc with magentis cos price is heaven & earth. Joke aside,if u drive 2L forte, people think u drive 1.6 version. If u drive magentis, people will know is a 2.0 car, haha! ↡ Advertisement
Darth_mel 1st Gear May 3, 2009 Share May 3, 2009 (edited) but kia and hyundai seems to be quite slow in implementing 5/6 Auto...they should develop faster...then they will flood the roads... noticed Forte's all around our roads...looks good and huge...just only wished the interior could be made of better materials...if not really felt like sitting in plastic haven Impreza... Maybe Kia/Hyundai should have a 5-speed gearbox upgrade for us existing owners at a reasonable fee when it arrives. Forte is being seen as 1.6L, just like Altis ... not many will ever think Altis can be a 1.8L ... have been 1/2 hearted over the weekend ... but this evening CFO dragged me back to the ground and think of the practical aspect ... She just say "2L is good, but for a 2nd car, shouldn't we be getting a smaller cc one?" ... I guess that's it, I've finally woke up from my 2L dream ... I guess I was just waiting for her to either support or shatter my dream to decide ... she chose to shatter it Will be giving the 1.6L Forte a serious look, maybe even the Avante ... but for Forte I can't really swallow without elect side mirror folding leh Edited May 3, 2009 by Hungee

Paddie 3rd Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Maybe Kia/Hyundai should have a 5-speed gearbox upgrade for us existing owners at a reasonable fee when it arrives. Kia will have 6-speed auto for the 2.0 engines (Carens/Sportage/Magentis/Forte) some time next year. The 6-speed auto for the 1.6 engines (Rio/Soul/Forte) will be introduced in 2011. Alfist168 Clutched May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 The first 3 Hyundai/Kia models to have that 6-speed tranny are the Azera, Santa Fe and the Sorento. Hope that Komoco imports the 2.4/2.7 Azera available in Korea...
Kelpie 2nd Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 magentis has everything, except cruise control. T.T Cruise control is just a good to have here or should I say useless . I think people who are impatient can't really get used to cruise control. Regards,
Caravan 5th Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Cruise control is just a good to have here or should I say useless . I think people who are impatient can't really get used to cruise control. Regards, The only road I can think of where you can use cruise control is KPE, where an artificially low speed limit is enforced. In normal roads/expressways, there's no way you can use cruise control as inevitably you will come to someone slower than you, or someone behind wanting to go faster, and then you will be road hogging. Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Magentis and sonata both really good road holding and really refined engine...although power is not there, even with 165bhp...but with a heavy body, 0-100kph still done in 11.1secs...compared to Forte 2.0L 156bhp in 10.6secs... that said, i noticed that although Magentis came with tonnes of features, the quality and design of the interior still leaves one to really like the car...the hard plastics (vs the sonata's soft touch) and the ghastly huge air-con vent staring right at your face!!! haha... but both as spacious...compared to the Camry...rather get the Magentis...at least for the space...but Camry was really light...very linear response too... price difference $25k... Alfist168 Clutched May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 that's why the magentis should come with cruise control, even as an option. ppl who travel via KPE alot will definitely appreciate this feature!
Dmt2 Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 WOW! The white Sorento is a good looking car. Did the Kia SE mention when they are bringing it into SG?
Eviltrap 2nd Gear May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 Just paid the deposit for a new Magentis! Hope I can be successful with the COE bidding. By the way, the Reverse Camera is an optional accessory, according to my SE. So should I have it as well? Not sure whether I will need it though since I already requested for reverse sensors. Instead, it is tuned more for expressway overtaking My gf liked the metal bronze. I liked the black (but lazy to clean all the time), silver (current ride) and midnight grey (too common colour), so ended up choose my gf's favourite colour. At least the Magentis is for powerful than my TS. Overtaking will be easier compared to the struggling now.

Guess it's not a must have but should be good to have. Nothing really beats seeing the rear. I would prefer a reverse camera instead of a sensor though. Btw, your SE should have no prob throwing in the sensor cos it's more of a low-priced item. ↡ Advertisement
