Thanks and these are the points I have taken into

consideration.

I had owned and drove before suzuki swift, honda civic, nissan sunny

and now a mitsubishi lancer.

Currently at the mid life crisis, I am looking for comfort in a car.

The road tax and FC issue not a priority anymore.

Thinking that the Kia Magentis maybe a more comfortable ride,

and where to find a 2L car at this price?

Most probably will decide after test drive the 2 car.

If you don't mind buying used, this one's a very good buy and low mileage.

Used Magentis are snapped up quickly because of the really attractive pricing and refinement. You really can't go wrong here.

Thanks and agree that this is a very good buy.

But I am not in a hurry to change car yet.

Couple of new car coming out this year.

The new Kia Sorento 2.4 looks very delicious and

if the price is reasonable, I may go for it.

So what if it's a taxi model ? Should I feel shameful ?

Don't take my word for it, just check sgcarmart.

If what you say hold true, then those who drive Mercedes should feel shameful too cos their cars are used as taxis as well.

I think in Singapore it is more typical for people to "siam" certain models because of the stigma of driving a cab model. This stems from the fact that we place a high value on "Face".

People will think if the model is being used as a taxi, it lowers the value of the car. But my question is, what value are we talking about? The cars are basically the same, albeit 1 is diesel while the other is petrol.

In Europe, most of the taxis are Mercs and some other marques but people there does not see a particular model that is being used as a cab to be of lower value. They don't seem fazed by it.

So coming back to this mentality, is it our Asian or even Singaporean only views or does people from other parts of the world share the same outlook?

I think for me, buying a car is based more on the merits of the model that I am interested in versus if the car is a cab or not. If the car offers good value and priced correctly, then I will consider. If I do make a choice, then I will choose a color that differenciates it.

Last year on a business trip to Sweden, took a V50 Cab from Stockholm International Airport to Stockholm. The 25min ride cost S$98. Cool.

Hehehe... Thanks Optix...

Yup in Europe our so called premium marques are used as cabs and it is so common and everyone still buys them.

In France you have their national brands as cabs too and everyone does not have such a view as us in Asia.

Maybe most of us think that driving a cab model means lower face value bah.

For me I surely don't have an issue. Hehehe....

You could have taken the Arlanda Express, the fastest and most environmentally friendly way to go into the center of Stockholm.

For me I don't mind driving the Merc if I can afford it or my fav will be the Chrysler 300C!

The 300C is such a bling bling car... Very nice wedge shape though I would prefer the earlier front grille.

If a car is used as taxi it also means it is proven to be reliable, after all that is what taxi companies look for above anything else.

I some parts of Germany, you can register your car as a taxi to enjoy special rebates. But you must use that car as a taxi. I have a regular taxi driver who register his Evo9 as a taxi, and he claim the car is use to ferry school kids.... hahaaaa.....
