Get the Megane if you absolutely have to have a magic carpet ride. If not, there are just too many better cars out there for the price - Conti and Jap.

Renault design their cars to make maintenance easy only if u r trained or have specialized tools for Renault cars. This is their business strategy. Not easy to service outside.

[laugh] [laugh] Agree. In any case, I had posted that some Renault owner can change the bulb in under 10mins without taking the wheel out.

Tho I don't own a Renault....from what I have read in the Renault forum....I feel the video is a bit of an exaggeration.

Actually, anyone can do the basic maintenance eg. oil change, oil/air/fuel filters, aircon/alternator belt, etc...just that most mech don't even want to do it cos of mental barrier or they will try t charge you more cos it is a conti.

There are a no. of workshops doing conti cars and they will do Renault as well. There also a few workshops specialised in Renault or French cars.

Common parts are generally cheap and readily available from stockists.

Actually on Renault's reliability or the lack of it. I wonder if the complaints from the owners affected our perception. Cos in most brand specific forums, most people want to find out about the problem they are facing and seldom mentions the goods...cos it is understood. So that might give rise to give the impression that the car is full of problems.

I have seen old Espace being used as taxi in KL and there are still some old privately owned ones on the road. So if it is really that bad, wouldn't it be taken out earlier instead of driving it? Some Renault owners even when on go buy a few Renaults after they sold their 1st one.

For me, the main reason I didn't buy another cos of my bad experience with it's previous AD and also I couldn't find the right car in their range.

Hmm... let me find out more from Renault forum before i jump into decisions.

Although it has been quite a while on the road already, i still like the executive look of this car. [:p]

the looks is appealing to me as well...but what is holding me back..is the cost of fixing those problems associated....

no la nonsense... just need to turn the wheel full lock inward, put your hand inside the wheel arch to pull open a latch, then use your hand to feel for the bulb and pull it out. I went to change the bulb a few times alrdy. the mechanics just need a little patience. cos most of them will not know where to change the bulb...just show them the car manual point to the diagram and they'll get it changed in 10min...

another thing, the aircon filter also v easy to change, in fact easier then jap cars...u can even do it yrself....just that most mechanic dunno where to change.
