As drivers, would you be more willing to go through the ERP gantry in the last 5 minutes if the proceeds were given to charity?

Hi bros and siss,

I was travelling on the ECP towards City today, and saw a driver (ok, it was a lady, but that's another topic altogether) who stopped in the leftmost lane (not the breakdown lane) just at the ERP gantry at 9.29am. There also seem to be a few cars happy to keep behind her...

It is interesting what people would resort to for 50 cents. And it got me thinking, would drivers behave this way if the 50 cents went to charity?

So, I was thinking if it was a good idea to suggest this to LTA...

For the last 5 minutes (50 cents) of all ERP charges, donate the collection to charity.

It would only be a small fraction of their collections, proceeds will go to a good cause, (perhaps) drivers will be more willing to go through during that period and not slowing down / stopping... and probably making roads safer!

Thus the reason for my poll... [flowerface]

when i was travelling on ECP a few months back, at 758pm, ALL cars (yes, i meant all cars!) stopped behind the gantry until 8pm. den all started to move off.

i was 6 cars behind the first car at the 'ERP stop line'

haha....better dont save the 50cents ERP by stopping by the road . once saw a TP ride up once and everyone got cornered [whip] ....nowadays, they will just come down and take down your vehicle numbers and then report back....your words against theirs [speechless]

charity? i dun think so.

so many fraud cases in charitable organisations... i dun think its wise.

LTA should just show the time in seconds as well.... e.g. 10:29:45.

I think there are multiple camera mount near the ERP gate that are able to capture/see the car number plate.. Good luck to those car stop No 1 in the Q..

everyone shd just sync their timing on the car with ERP gantry... so if it's a few minutes to ERP shutdown, plan and pace out the distance.. it's really dangerous to stop at the side or even come to a almost standstill at ERP gantry..

This ERP thing is just a machine to suck $$...

It was implemented to reduce jams...

Until today, the JAM is still there... So, Can refund back money since the implementation is not working?

We have RD Tax, COE, ERP... What's next?

Turbocharged

Even if money goes to charity, there will be those who do not wanna pay the 50cts.

But good idea.. in fact 100% of ERP $ should go to charity..

Sorry bro...

This is how it works. The calculation in upscale manner.

Every 3 seconds 1 car will pass by the gantry. 3 lanes are open for last 5 minutes for 50cents.

20 cars per minute x3 lanes x5 mins x50cents which is $150.

5 days is worth $750.

52 weeks is worth $39000.

For that 5 minutes per gantry, they can pay the wages for a clerk/executive for 1 year including bonuses. Why would they do it for charity?
