errr... im not sure which part of my earlier post is not clear about the choice of workshop limitation... [:p][laugh]:D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you shouldn't be limited to your insurance's authorized workshop right, since it's quite a clear-cut case of you claiming the taxi's insurance (there's no claim as far as your own insurance is concerned)?

Yes, if you are claiming the taxi insurance, why die die need to choose a workshop from MSIG list? If you are claiming your own insurance, then of course you will have to choose from the list.

Having said that, I have read good reviews abt Lim Tan Motor at Sin ming from forums.

wait a minute...now im confused or perhaps my understanding of this insurance sh8t is not enough...

ok, even if my insurance coverage is only authorised workshop and NOT any workshop, i can still repair it outside? i always thought i die die must go back to those listed wor...

when u guys said, im not claiming against my insurance, meaning all if my case is 100% his fault, all the repair work on my car and his car are covered by his insurance and my insurer(MSIG) dont have to pay a cent, thus i could repair it anywhere i like??....

if that is the case, i can send it back to tan chong?

if i repair it outside and somehow, the lawyer/insurer screw it up, and i got blamed certain percentage of it, then how?? i paid for it myself for my own repair?? [confused]

If you send back to Tan Chong, one thing for sure is they will ask you claim your own insurance first (have to pay the excess) and also provided MSIG allow you to repair at Tan Chong. After repair and stuff, they will then try to claim from the taxi insurance.

that's the problem when the kumho ku31 perform too well under wet condition......it was still drizzling, i already slam brake to full stop but he couldn't and when he hit me, i dont remember my car moved at all.......that could explain the bad damage......if my car moves slightly by the impact, it could reduce the damage...... [sweatdrop]

Neutral Newbie

You are doing a third party claim. No need to go back to authorised workshop. Unless is Own Damage claim. Just go directly to your own friends recommendations, when "sio pat-know each other" will usually do a better job... ... change what you need, such as spare tire well and so own. Some workshops you don't know may end up knocking back then claim for new one... ...

ok..some pictures... any pro here can roughly gauge what is the damage if self fix??..

WHETHER WANT TO CLAIM THROUGH INSURANCE OR NOT, YOU MUST REPORT.

even if the taxis driver want to pay privately. still must report. this is for recording purposes and to prevent any complication in future.

bass on the picture.

the quotation is around S$1500.

you need to knock back the bracket, reinforce bar(if any), change tail lights, change reverse sensor, knock the body, change the boot and also the spraying. duration around 5 days, depending on the workshop

the above is base on the MITSUBISHI and TOYOTA make. all are approximation and base on dec 2008 accident quote.

you need to include your loss of use( number of days cannot use car ), if your policy have this.

hope this above helps.

Some are geniuing to pay you privately, some are not.

the uncle that hit my rear, willing to pay S$1500 for it, but no experience, so cannot accept. in the end, the repair is around S$1500(repair + 15% markup ), this still have not include the LOU of my car.

in the meantime, got a load car from the workshop that repair my car. some 30 hours later, a maserati hit the back side and want to pay check on the spot, but cannot accept as the car do not belong to me.

he went to the workshop can pay in cash the next working day. he steady... [thumbsup]

Chow chow also around the range of 1K plus to 2K according to most Bros here [nod]

I doubt the taxi driver would wanna settle privately for such an amount [gossip]
