StefanK Supercharged March 14, 2016 Share March 14, 2016 I did a test that day driving to a nearby place from home. I had a 50/50% green / red. Distance 5 km Assuming I drive 60 km/h if not stopping, I can reach within 5 minutes. 60 km in 1 hour (60 minutes ) 1 km in 1 minute thus 5 km in 5 minutes But a traffic light stops me for 1 minute. Total traffic light I approached, 18 !!! 9 of them are red add waiting time, 9 X 1 minute = 9 minute. Total travel time increases to 9 + 5 = 14 minutes Imagine I waited 9 minutes to travel a 5 minute distance. Therefore you are correct bro.. Traffic lights are causing a lot of fuel wastage. I am a go green guy, and it really boils my blood to see carbon emission and heat generated to cause harm to our children. OK.. I just bull shit about the last statement .. it's not the only thing you're bulls**tting about. Anyway... 2 words for your 14 minutes red light experiment: 衰小 ↡ Advertisement

Your example only works if there is only one person using the road at that time. Edited March 14, 2016 by Nzy
Obey_my_dog 2nd Gear March 14, 2016 Share March 14, 2016 15mins to travel just a mere 5km in a private car?....averaging at a travel speed of 20km/h. This type of commuting time in a private car is really laughable.....probably explains why electric bikes seem to travel faster than cars and explains why drivers are so pissed with electric bikes......drivers pay for smooth road usage yet they're being slowed down by the numerous traffic lights. If car is too slow then cycle? I cycle everywhere in town when I go for meetings. Way faster than public transport or car. Only problem is finding a suitable place to lock the bicycle. Not only you're slow. LTA says you have to pay ERP when your speed drops below certain number. Oh...wait, they are the ones who caused it.
Hoonigan 1st Gear March 17, 2016 Share March 17, 2016 Not only you're slow. LTA says you have to pay ERP when your speed drops below certain number. Oh...wait, they are the ones who caused it. For not own self check own self.. you just assume Obey-His-dog was driving slowly at 20 km/h LOL What he quoted was for 5 km, including the actually driving at assumed 60 km/h and waiting at the traffic lights ( as quoted by me ), he calcuated that I took 15 minutes to travel 5 km,. Thus the average speed is 20 km per hour. Got it ? Check OWN self.
Hoonigan 1st Gear March 17, 2016 Share March 17, 2016 OK for the non technically inclined and subtly below average guys.. 5 km / 15 minutes 10 km will take 30 minutes 20 km will take 60 minutes 60 minutes is an hour. therefore 20 km for an hour Answer 20km/h If you come from the village country Malaysia then its 20km/JAM ! ↡ Advertisement
