Are drivers more responsible pedestrians?

Are you a "bad" pedestrian? Do you jay walk? Do you take your own sweet time to cross the road at zebra crossings and traffic junctions?

Do you show appreciation when cars give way to you?

For me, I do jay walk at times [lipsrsealed] but I always make sure I (family as well) do not dilly dally at the road crossings.

I always wave to thank drivers who give way to me.

Only if it is absolutely absurd to walk to the next available crossing greater than 100m away.

I hasten my pace and I most certainly do not cross in the last 5 seconds of the flashing green man.

Yes I give them a slight nod of my head. More so if they give way to me on my bicycle - cos technically I'm not supposed to ride across a pedestrian crossing.

Yes yes. Don't you just love those folks who

1. Stand with their toes 1mm away from the asphalt while waiting for the lights to change.

2. Stand at corners (on the road itself) where they know turning vehicles will be inches away while negotiating the tight bend

3. Stroll across a zebra crossing without evening checking to see if the approaching vehicles are slowing down

and my favourite

4. walking with their kids on the outside - closest to traffic passing by! These parents out to be shot.

Just had an incident today. i was approaching a zebra crossing, though i am still quite some way from the zebra crossing, the driver stopped to wait for me to cross up, i picked up my pace and showed him a gesture of appreciation.

As a driver myself, i will try to quicken my pace when i see a driver waiting at the zebra crossing.

In younger days, I would run across traffic and jaywalk all the time. Once I started driving regularly, I understand the frustration bad pedestrians cause drivers and the danger they put themselves into, so I am a lot more careful. Sometimes I even choose to use overhead bridges - I take it as a form of exercise walking up those steps.

Some people walk across the road slowly cause they have problem that prevent them from walking fast.

Our naked eye might not spot their health problem.

Mostly responsible drivers are responsible pedestrians.

I like Ontario government approached on this.

They acknowledge the fact that even a 100% alert driver cannot prevent an accident if the pedestrian doesn't take responsibility of their safety. It takes 2 to clap. SG everything driver fault.

Pedestrian safety is for all ages. Unfortunately, in traffic incidents involving pedestrians and motorists, it is the pedestrian who suffers, often with tragic results. In many cases it is not the driver's fault. It is the responsibility of both driver and pedestrian to ensure each others safety by following some simple rules.

I do not use the handphone when walking a pedestrian crossing

I do not SMS when walking a pedestrian crossing

I will try to use an overhead bridge if feasible

I will try to use an underpass if feasible

I do not cross in front of a bus or huge vehicle

When I'm driving, I just feel that pedestrians do not communicate with the drivers, like at zebra crossings.

So, whenever I'm a pedestrian, before crossing the zebra or traffic crossing, I'll wait and try to make eye contact with the driver of the approaching vehicle, then when the driver stops (hopefully) to let me cross, I will wave and then walk briskly.

I just feel sometimes there is loss of human connection/communication between pedestrians and drivers and other road users.
