Travelling above the speed limit is against the law. The limit is there for a reason. Disrespecting it is reason for concern.

Why is it that speeding is not equivalent to holding someone with a gun to their heads, minus the intent to harm of course? But beyond that there is no diff.

It should be socially unacceptable but people here somehow take it non chalantly. Why?

Excuses given so far....emergency doctor needing to do emergency operations, going to see a dying relative, etc It it were so true, there is too many ememrgency docs and last minute dying here.

These are exactly just that......EXCUSES.

It's ok.....karma has it's ways of showing itself :)

Please show me where it says Lane 1

next time when you're driving on the expressway, look out for the 'Keep Left Unless Overtaking' sign..

Yes it just says exactly that. Its totally different from "Right lane for Overtaking"

It also does not say "Right lane for Exceeding Limit"

And FYI, I've met my share of hoggers on the road but I do not aggravate but respect his right to be there. Just like I respect someone in a queue.

road hoggers should be shot in the wall next to tail gaters. both are road nuisances

My school of thought is:

There'll be no tailgaters if there's no road hogger

Please show me where it says Lane 1 is for overtaking.

I'm telling you you comprehension needs work. It is:

Overtake on the Right!

Now coming back to the driver in front not giving way while driving at the limit, please do respect that he is at the limit. Do not push him to break the limit as that would be rude and discorteous. Also do no expect him to give you the way so that you can break the law.

Want to break the law and yet still want to complain that people do not give you that opportunity, what crazy thinking is that?

Nobody is pushing the car in front to break the law.. He can simply keep left like the law says he should.

Maybe its better for you to take a look at the highway code (Basic theory) AND Defensive driving (advanced theory) again dude.. Think say further also no point.. If i show u, i have to scan too many pages... maybe 2 books.. lol

Its easier for you to show everyone la.. cos u only need to show us the red circle with the number 90 on the expressway... 1 pic nia.. more efficient right? lol

cheers and have a good day

Say I want to go from Changi to Jurong via PIE and I intend to travel say 150 km/h (safely assuming that no one else on the road that day can match this speed) on an emergency (whatever you want it to be), does it mean that I can travel on lane 1 all the way tailgating everyone on the way there and effectively assuming that I am overtaking everyone else on lane 2 at 150km/h since everyone else is slower than me?

Don't tell me you have never done anything against the law in your whole life! Are you a saint? Travelling above speed limit is a necessary evil in times of emergency you know. So don't equate it to robbing an old lady! Please wake up your idea!

Then I shall be praying for your resoluteness in keeping with the speed limit when (god forbid) you do need to see a dying relative. And remember, expressway is 90km/h at most, and normal roads are 50km/h unless stated otherwise k? Now be a good boy and go play with your toys.
