Hotamp 3rd Gear March 24, 2009 Share March 24, 2009 ya, nowadays things are designed not to last too long so that consumers will continue to spend and spend. Long ago consumers goes for long established brands because they expect their product to be longer lasting. That is true in the past but now to cut costs, parts are awarded to the lowest bid. also long ago parts are expensive, so the technician literally has to be skilled enough to troubleshoot and actually do repair....now people just plug in the diagnostic machine...look at the data.... and tell you to change the entire circuit board...cheaper lah.....dont change also must pay transport cost so for expensive item, if got extended warranty just pay a little more to cover yourself....if not just pray that nothing happens within these few yrs, if not it is really not worth repairing.....even after repair they will only give you 6 months warranty on the repaired parts....wat happens if other parts go kaput? repair again? such is life
Tjkbeluga 5th Gear March 24, 2009 Share March 24, 2009 this kind of product, always buy with maximum warranty, like 5 years. Modern electronic nowadays have less and less servicable parts. So once spoiled, only way is replace.
Shull Turbocharged March 24, 2009 Share March 24, 2009 also, alot of the parts in electronics are modular..so that part spoil, just replace.. worse is, some parts can't even be repaired at all..
Trusty 1st Gear March 24, 2009 Author Share March 24, 2009 i was shocked to hear from the agent that i need to pay $90 for them to send staff down to diagnose the problem and pay for the parts. then i told them i send down to the service centre, they quote me $80 to diagnose plus the parts.. thats crazy.
