Weiming 1st Gear February 3, 2010 Share February 3, 2010 The W124 E class is a better bet in terms of reliability, affordability and ease of finding OEM parts. FC is around 8 to 9 km/L. The W140 S class is around 5 to 6 km/L.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear February 3, 2010 Share February 3, 2010 why not get the S280L?? should be more comfortable right??
W210k 1st Gear February 3, 2010 Share February 3, 2010 The current Merc W204 C280 (3L V6) is rated at 10.4 km/L. Actual could be anywhere 8-9 km/L new. The Lexus IS200 (2L IL6) gave 7-8 km/L when new, in the first 3 years. The BMW E83 X3 (2.5L IL6) pre-Valvtronic (non-SI) version gives 6-7 km/L when new, in the first 3 years. But that's on the other extreme of weight plus 4WD. Given that the 1994 S280 is a near-20 year old 2.8L engine, and a much heavier S-Class chassis at that, I can hazard a guess of 5-6 km/L. Cannot be far wrong. ↡ Advertisement
