Turbocharged

hit in the rear bumper lightly, long long long ago by an elderly guy in a lorry.

superficial scratches.

fella was apologizing profusely.

saw his tired out look, wrinkle face, and sun beaten skin under the street lamp.'

I said, "uncle dont worry about it but do drive carefully, go home and take a rest now.

[thumbsup] Not many people can do that.

I do not care much about the dings and dents anymore.

The engine runs, the A/C works, the lights power up and the car moves. That's all I care.

I've collected quite alot of very tiny chippings on the body especially on the bonnet cover, front grille and fenders. I suppose this is the price to pay for hot pursuit on NSHW [shakehead]. Perhaps, getting a car bra makes sense.

Had a lunch yesterday with a Malaysian associate and he told me Malaysian don't treat cars like god like we do in Singapore.

For minor accident like hitting bumper, usually if just superficial scratches, both parties will just walk away from the incident. If the problem is more serious, usually on the spot settlement is RM300 at most.

A Singapore friend recently hit a rear bumper of a Malaysian car infront, slighly dent and scratch to the Myvi's rear bumper. The Malaysian driver made some noises but didn't persue with the matter.

I think in Singapore, even for minor accidents, you will see drivers dispute until like want to kill each other [knife]. Perhaps this is why our insurance premium is high and getting higher [laugh].

Regards,

This reminds of me of an accident I witness last year between a Phantom and Toyota Crown (TAXI). It happened at Hilton. Taxi just alighted a passenger and was driving off. Phantom was passing the cab on its right and the front bumper of the cab made contact with the rear passenger door of the Phantom.

The driver of the cab, an old uncle, probably late 60s quickly got out and gestured to express his apology. Driver of the Phantom got out and immediately shouted "UNCLE, WHY YOU NEVER CHECK?!". Taxi uncle kept saying "Sorry Boss sorry boss" while looking at the damage (I couldn't see anything from where I was).

Mr. Boss then got out of the Phantom from the right door and told his driver to get inside. He went over to look at the damage (at this point, I moved closer to see if there was any damage). He then used his hands to rub the spot where the cab made contact, walked to the taxi driver who was still looking extremely worried and said;

"Uncle, don't worry. There is only a very small dent and some marks. I can get someone to polish this out. (and in Mandarin) You may carry on with your drive. Drive carefully".

Taxi uncle in Mandrin- "Thank you so much. I'm really sorry, really sorry. Boss I know this isn't much but why not you take this $50 to do the polishing?"

Mr. Boss in a mixture of English and Mandarin "No don't worry. Small issue. I have to go now, running late. Drive carefully and don't worry about this"

Everything was settled in less than 5 minutes.
