Tohto Hypersonic March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 (edited) Dow was in positive territory for past 3 session, Citibank announce profit for Jan and Feb. Is this a sign that stock market had bottom out? Or is just a few session of buy from low due to over sold previously? Is this a sign that stock market had bottom out? Or is just a few session of buy from low due to over sold previously? Its still early to tell. We need more good news for the next quater before signs will be clear. The recent rise is mainly fueled by profits postings from Citigroup, JP Morgan & BOA. GM also did not ask for more govt assistance. Consumer retail index also risen above expectation (although still weak). Hope more good news is on the way. Pray hard! Stary Turbocharged March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 Dow was in positive territory for past 3 session, Citibank announce profit for Jan and Feb. Is this a sign that stock market had bottom out? Or is just a few session of buy from low due to over sold previously? No..unless you just want to speculate for 6 months or so. This rebound will be for awhile, maybe around April to Sept and I have mention this since late last year. This will be a good time to get rid of whatever old stocks you may have left. If you want to speculate, then make sure you get out on time. This will be also the time to sell off your property and make some $$$ if they still worth something. Once this rebound is over, the real depression starts when the commodity bubble burst. I suspect oil will rise back to 3 digits before it burst again somewhere end of this year. Or is just a few session of buy from low due to over sold previously? Have the stock market bottomed out? No, that was just the introduction. Worst is yet to come unfortunately. This is a window of opportunity for those who haven't yet to get ready for the big one to pull out and/or prepare for it. Back to fundamentals guys, TAs becomes invalid in crazy times like these... so it's time to throw your charts out the window, hunker down and wait out the storm for a couple of years. Roborovskii 4th Gear March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 Long term you may want to look towards Asia and precious metals. Now is a good time to long PMs while for Asia you may want to wait it out some more. But don't just take my word for it, got to do some research on your own. This is just what I am doing personally. Roborovskii 4th Gear March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 I would be keeping an eye on places with exposure to China, particularly in commodities. But right now as there are some strong political under currents, I would be wary about stepping in just yet. Locally, I guess you could keep an eye out too, but until the *ahem* old dog moves on, the covers are not off yet.

When it's long term, it's the length of time you're in market that matters. Don't be overly concerned about the fluctuations. Use money that you do not need in the short term. Wt_know Supersonic March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 (edited) everyone is talking about China for growth and consumption and the next big economic power. but, look at sg china listed companies scandals .... one after another. their best talent is to cook the balance sheet and transfer $$ out. i, like many others, have high hope on china growth but fact after fact has shown to me that china companies are not trustworthy. you may said there are just a few bad apples but the few bad apples are not 1 or 2 but many many bad apples. Alfc 5th Gear March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 its not so simple to spot peaks and troughs... I feel the approach now shld be not to speculate but buy in progression for mid to long term horizon for equity. all the dips and spikes for this and next year are jus "noises" in the bigger whole scheme of things.
