Mlyeu Neutral Newbie March 10, 2009 Share March 10, 2009 Hi I just found 3 streams of what looks to be like hard water on my front windscreen. It's definately not paint and I got it whilst parked at an underground car park... must be leaked from the ceiling and can see it landed from the top of the windscreen and run all the way down. Initially, I thought I could remove with a bit of hard scrubbing (using wash sponge and car wash detergent) but it didnt come off. Went to HW DIY shop and bought Oust Descaler yesterday, applied it, left it for a few mins and washed off with sponge and water... it's still there!. Then I was a bit desperate and tried a rough sponge from the kitchen (you know the one use for scrubbing stubborn burn stain from pots and pans), I knew it was going to cause some scratches, so I tested it at the bottom of the windscreen first... after much hard scrubbing , I could only get 50% off but it caused a bit of scratches on the glass as expected so I stopped. At this time... I've left it as is, and seek your help if any bros out there have effective solution to resolve this. The other option is if anyone know which shop I can go to get this problem sorted out. Regards Mike. ↡ Advertisement

Circuit Clutched March 10, 2009 Share March 10, 2009 the kitchen green guass should be able to rite?.. should use soap water.. not jus plain water. alternative u want a safer bet. go autobacs or stamford... buy the 3M windscreen sanding pad . abt $1.50 ~ $2 each. use soap water and sand away all those stains. no worries or scratches. Bsbs Neutral Newbie March 10, 2009 Share March 10, 2009 If all fails, maybe you can try Aut*Ba*s They have a service called Windscreen Spa Treatment, but rather expensive at $68 and I do not know how effective it is. Perhaps you can go down and ask for a demo? . I have learnt to live with my countless streaks and spots on my windscreen liao.

Osiris 1st Gear March 11, 2009 Share March 11, 2009 Yes & no, here's what happened After returning to my car and found the water stains on the windscreen, those I immediately clean & peel was removed. Its also dripped on my car roof which I use QD to clean but no luck there. tried cleaning again at my CP I missed some of those on the wind screen and try removing them (use finger to peel, claybar) to no effect. those on the roof, clay bar (soft99) useless, use polish to remove 90% of it. Try washing them again during the wkend also no use. This weekend I try Scratch X.
Mlyeu Neutral Newbie March 11, 2009 Author Share March 11, 2009 I finally got the hardwater stain off the windscreen. I went to buy Soft99 Glass Compound X from NTUC Extra and it worked!. What a relief! It comes with a sponge and it was quite easy to apply. Just apply the mud like solution from the tube and wait for a couple of mins to dry, then scrub with the sponge. I had to do abt 3 times in order to get it all off.

Tploh Clutched March 14, 2009 Share March 14, 2009 Had similar issue. Tried the below and al failed : - Mama lemon + Green scrap - the blue colour Window detergent - newspaper - claybar Only one cheap off-the shelf never-heard-of brand Window Polish at supermarket works. It is liquid ( very liquid ) form. However, after I remove the hard water stain, my windscreen becomes hazy with white "fog". Eventually, I use aggressive car polish to remove the haze and save my windscreen. Otherwise, will need to search for my car insurance to see if it covers windscreen or not... Nhyone 4th Gear March 14, 2009 Share March 14, 2009 So ex? But it's worth the price if it works. I'm going to buy it later. My windscreen has water stains through years of neglect. I think the previous car owner never wipe the raindrops off. I've tried, - normal glass cleaner (transparent) + cloth/newspaper - car shampoo + sponge - dishwashing solution - hot water None works. ↡ Advertisement
