my personal experience. when i was studying at NUS, once there was a heavy downpour and i was the only one with an umbrella with me. just before i crossed the road from the bus stop outside Central Library, a girl ran up to me and asked if she can share the umbrella! after sheltering her to the covered walkway on the opposite side, she said thank you and left. i was too stunned to even think of talking to her or getting her phone number  [furious]

Something very similar happened to someone i know. Problem was he couldnt resist placeing his arm on her. Big mistake. Got convicted for outrage of modesty, lost his scholarship, downgraded from officer etc

Such minor event you can still remember up till now. Hmmm

You should offer more of your umbrella next time. Raining days go raffles. Many OL there during lunch break.

Ok. How you ended up in resditial estate. The next best thing to do,if anyone in your situatuon, is to walk to the nearer main road. There you will be able to see public phone booth. Probably one or two taxi parked there.

In your situatuon is to quietly ask the service staff at the deli for assistance, like advise whether is it okie to board that stranger (customer) car. Or phone nos of taxi company.

we were students just arriving perth in late 80s, exploring the suburb neighborhood around the campus. Before we knew it we were at least 5km away from where we started.

We were young and innocent never thought of people will do evil things to us. Isn't that the beauty of humanity. we also gave free ride to other people over there quite a few times even in middle of the night.

But if you ask me if I will hop on a stranger's car today or in Singapore? I will still do it [laugh]

With age you will sight up the driver before hopiping onto a stranger car. That I am very sure.

Younger days of course living without fear. I too gave lift to many strangers from city, suburb and campus. Now if you ask me to do it again on would think twice, sight up the stranger and put my own safety in priority.

Perth! Hmm hot and so called mini singapore in the 80/90s.
