No numbers of campagns can change this Kiasu Mentality since we have all been preconditioned to Take Care of Yourselves right from Day One.

And you know who and what I am refering to.

Come to think of it, isn't it silly that campaigns are needed to remain us to be gracious and be courteous??

Actually there are times when driver not familiar wif the roads and last min have to cut in to go into expressways. It has happened to me b4 but I make it a point to wave and thank the driver.

I cant stand those who after giving way to them, they dont do that. As though we owe it to them.

Once or twice still never mind, understandable.....But day after day, you still see the same cars or vans attempting the same trick all over again.....So do we want to give them the benefit of the doubt? [thumbsdown]

i'm afraid in some countries where its citizens are too stressful but not so intelligent, campaigns are necessary

In singapore campaigns doesn't work....only enforecement will produce result. Look at the stop smoking, speeding, courtesy ..........and the list goes on.

Non of them work but the moment there is an enforcement officer who can hand out a fine the behavior will change.

I read somewhere that this is a psychological problem:

Each one of us has his own perceived personal space. When that space is perceived to be invaded, the person will get angry. It is normal that a person subconsciously increased his perceived personal space when he is in his car. Sometimes that increase can be like 2 car length in front. So if anyone just cut in with 1 car length, the person behind may perceive it as invading into personal space and becomes angry.

The question now is: how do educate the person to reduce this perceived personal space when one is in his car?

It be b problem on ego...

Tats human... complex and complicated..

Perhaps too tense and stress here... but if every1 can drive in a more layback and relax mood, i'm sure many accident or unpleasant driving experience can be avoided.

it has to do with car being an enclosed space...riding a bike, you can take freely with the other biker so in a way, it make interaction better. For car driver, they simply use the honk to talk...sometime if the honk was pressed too hard, it becoming offence and so the other will react back....

I believe is more or less is how this society is being shaped. After independence, our Gov make all our citizen work in order to survive. So after the country develop and prosper and to make sure our citizen to continue to work hard, the Gov don't hand out benefit and will not help anyone who does not work, so everyone will only have themselves to think of. After 40 years down the road, the mind set in all the citizen is always me first, whatever I do, it will always be to my benefit. So that why this country and full of selfish people who will only think of themselves.

This is so so so true ... I notice I've become more temperemental ever since I started driving. That's not a good sign ... I have a colleague who has a very mild mannered wife ... but ever since she started driving ... hurhur .... she's changed.

yeah, we are all part of an intricate driving r'ship on the roads. one driver's actions directly/indirectly affect another. so if driver A pisses driver B, B will try to get back at A and in the process offend driver C and the cycle goes on..

i think there are some black sheeps that dont follow traffic rule or making it unpleasant for other drivers...bad behaviour breeds bad behaviour...makes drivers more wary of each other...

no big deal

on the road is like a fight

everyone fight to save time and be the fastest

no point spent $$ on car and petrol to be bogged down on the road by other users
