Why do motor road users despise each other?

its not just cyclists,

even motorbikers are much more united.

i know 80-90% of the bikers in my mscp, irregardless of race, age.

new friends are made even when bikers take sheltar underneath bridges during downpours.

but now i hardly know any new drivers.

if u ask me, 1 thing is ego, 2nd thing is riding to many is a passion.

while drivin for most is jus a transport tool.

Same. I wanna know too. I notice bikers more friendly than drivers (well at least most of the time). I think ego lah.

Stress for driver to Q in traffic jams,as for motobike/cyclist, stress free, cos any traffic jam they always in front. Tats why they r friendly among each other, but not to car driver.

In case you guys and the TS doesn't know or have overlooked, there's a general substantial lack of Graciousness in society here in Singapore. NOT just on the roads... it is EVERYWHERE and in EVERY aspect of living here.

Well.. Benefits of a Meritocratic society ? Where everyone was schooled and brought up to think for themselves... Just see the competition in the Unis and JCs and Polys

Campaigns can only do so much. If the citizens (on the message receiving end) are not doing it for real... who do we have to blame? The organizers? Or the citizens ourselves?

It comes with the society. Some benchmark each other based on the kind of vehicles they drive... much like how some determine the kind of friends they would like to have based on wealth. This mentality leads some to think if they're paying more, they have more say in how things are done.

If you had tried traveling to the rural areas of China or Thailand, you will realize people there are a lot more helpful than Singaporeans.

Thats true. Usually when u go abroad, the more rural the place is, the more friendly & helpful are the people.

Realise this happens to almost any countries. Usually its the city dwellers & well-educated people who are more crafty & selfish.

The car is a evil thing, it possesses the driver. Mild manner guy, most often turned into impatient, hot temper when he gets into a car. Even stuanch religious guy is not spared.

Juz like the internet, usually the real person is very different from their online personality.

Been to quite a few gatherings with MCF pple and its very very true.

are you sure ? I've seen cyclist knock down pedestrains still scold them for not walking properly.

There are rude motorists as well as rude cyclists. One brush cannot be used to paint them all.

The TS meant it generally, not all of them.

Actually there are times when driver not familiar wif the roads and last min have to cut in to go into expressways. It has happened to me b4 but I make it a point to wave and thank the driver.

I cant stand those who after giving way to them, they dont do that. As though we owe it to them.

actually not only motor road users

singporeans dislike one another generally, be it on the trains, in shopping centres, on the streets

the social harmony and the level of graciousness is deteriorating. there is a strong sense of resentment among the stressed up and hot tempered citizens themselves, their kiasu and ugly behaviours in the public reveals it all.

Totally agree with you. a few months ago when I made a trip up to JB, wao, avery big eye opener for me. The traffic lights were out in a 4 way traffic junction but traffic still flows a though the lights were working.

If it was in Singapore I think 4 way would had became 2 way until someone manage to dash across [sweatdrop]
