Macross1 Neutral Newbie February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 Hi all, does anyone know what the rules are regarding importing your own car? E.g. Only new cars can be imported? What if I want to import a Toyota Supra? Anyone knows how to do it? ↡ Advertisement
Mkl22 Supersonic February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 how much cash on hand you have? No money no talk. importing a car is 100% cash outlay.
Pcslim Neutral Newbie February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 Is it CHEAP to import car on your own in the first place? Or should you just leave it to the PI? Maybe I sua ku but so far have not heard of anyone who does that on their own.
Tohto Hypersonic February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 It will never be cheap to import car on your own. You still need to pay all the tax to the government, shipping cost, send car for inspection, get approval from LTA etc.......buying a car from the showroom is easlier, either PI or AD. macrosszero Turbocharged February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 Only cars 3 years old or newer can be imported. The Supra's production ended in 2002, you've missed the boat from 2005 onward.

In Singapore last I checked was 60k. A WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENCE! I do remember a bro here did manage to import his own BMW convertable. Yattokame 4th Gear February 27, 2009 Share February 27, 2009 http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...portation_.html The link is for the paper work. OMV = open market value which consist of freight, car cost, etc etc then pay 100% tax based on this OMV then pay 20% duties based on OMV then pay 7% GST then get your COE and slap it to the car So it is roughly 2.27 times of the OMV. Macross1 Neutral Newbie February 28, 2009 Author Share February 28, 2009 What is OMV? How do I calculate that? Is that the purchase price of the car?
Beehive3783 Turbocharged February 28, 2009 Share February 28, 2009 i think you are better off buying cars from ADs if you don't know what is OMV.
C4a0s Neutral Newbie February 28, 2009 Share February 28, 2009 (edited) What if I can find a "Brand New" Supra that has never been registered? Sitting in a warehouse? importing your own car is freaking difficult but it is cheaper.. and for some reasons... the initial car inspection will take ages (go figure ;) ) supra...if it was never registered as a road going car, i think can...or they might look at the production date. if so, u'd be screwed. good luck and i really hope u can bring in a supra. Orionong Neutral Newbie February 28, 2009 Share February 28, 2009 Sorry, hijack your topic awhile.... please people... if possible please avoid the STUPID GE Loan. Because of my shortage of 6 cents in my payment , they can actually call me to pay another $11 cos it is consider late charges!!! Oh my god! What a FRIENDLY LOAN in town.. PUI manzzzz.... Becuase of this late charges thing . .. they have been calling and calling...I finally paid up togather with my monthly loan is $699...Due to i change of job, I have some delay.I called up and explained to them last Nov as I have been paying in time for the last 3.5 years.Never ever late before..They agreed to waive my late charges but since last Nov they have not been waiving the late charges and keep accumulating the $15 till almost $100++. I kept receving calls from them every month and I have to always repeat my story to them till this month. It is so damn fustrating I finally give in and paid the whole late amount plus my instalment after they agreed to waive after I pay first.Perhaps is my fault I did not see the 6 cents so i just key in $797 instead. Cant believe they can call me today to ask me pay another $11.06 becos of my 6cents shortage!!!! [f . I am really dumbfounded... ↡ Advertisement
