certain role...mum can fulfill....wife cannot....& vice versa.....

 

That's exactly how I handle situations. Anyway, wife threatened to leave me couple of times already, I'm getting immuned to her threats already.

 

Further, I have done no wrongs and had been a good husband / father / son to the best of my abilities. I never flirted around / sleep around, I take good care of the family and provided well for everybody. If my wife leaves me because she can't stand my mother, it's her loss.

I have a clear conscience even if I face God now. Never done anything wrong. Just caught between wife and mother, and having a hard time figuring out what is the right and compassionate thing to do.

 

And I'm in real danger of seeing my family just fall apart, because my wife is unwilling to accept any other solutions except to get my parents to move away. Unfortunately that option is out now, due to many concerns like who is going to look after my mother, who is really getting very senile.

 

So I'm prepared for the very worst, that my wife walks out on me, maybe bring the kids along, and divorce and claim maintenance from me, and requiring me to sell my house and split the proceeds with her. That is the worst case scenario.
