Depends what you need it for. I have the 40GB version and i find it more than sufficient because the games are not really very huge in memory.

But as it doubles as a blu-ray player as well as a media player, you may want to get the 80GB to store your movies. Alternatively, you can use external hard drive.

So it really depends on your needs with regards to the memory, other than that it is up to your personal preferences......

Can the PS3 play DVD of different region code? Do beleive the Blu Ray region code is same as US and Hong Kong, right?

Someone was saying if I get the 80gb, the start up will be slowed if I download lots of games.

was at the Sony at IMM last Sat, the price different is only about $40, between to 40GB and 80GB and 160GB,

according to the sales person, 80GB is good enough, also depending on how much downloadingyou are doing.

another way is you can get the exturner memory stick....

me also looking for one, actually looking for blu-ray player, but sinice PS3 comes with it, thot might as well...

Wat abt those mod set? Guess of the shelf, the DVD cannot play multi code, as it is only code 3? The BD will be Region 1 only?

Can I play the PS2 games on this PS3? Will there be a region code diff that prevents it?

IMM too far away from my place leh, but thks for the offer. I tot some might noe. I dun really mind gurantee, thinking of getting US set as the DVD region code would be code 1. So I can play my DVD collection. Else have to get a splitter or new LCD TV as current LCD TV input all used up! Bake of the TV now is full if cables! [sweatdrop]

Hi,

If I am not wrong, only the first generation PS3 80 GB has the following;

1) can support PS2 games

2) has 4 USB ports (current ones only has 2)

3) has a slot for MS

After that, newer players does not support the PS2 games. Price was around $9XX at that time but went down to $4XX (40GB) version without some features to compete with the XBOX...

The current ones that you buy in Sg can only play code 3 DVDs, as for BD, there is no region code restrictions if i am not wrong...

By the way, can share where to mod PS3 if you came across??

i dont think there are *ahem* PS3 sets around. At least from what i know.

you can try Tampines spower house selling at about $580 but that was about 2-3 months back, don know if the price change or not.

if not the other is funz centre at AMK hub, selling at approx the same price, or go to Qishan at Far East Shopping centre in orchard rd.

i think PS3 most value for money Blu-ray player. Can play game and also watch blu-ray movies, although blu-ray movies are still quite ex here. Approx $60 or higher. Or you can rent the movies from video ezy or those online movie rental sites.
