Can I share something.

I have FT PR colleague, son born and grow up in SG. His plan is once son reach NS age, all give up PR and go back to his home country. Then next time when his son older liao pass NS age, son probably can come back again as FT to take our jobs right? Why can like that? Because we are a country that always welcomes FT and we give out PR status like Mac giving out discount coupons. So we r just inviting FT to come exploit us.

Btw, the recent govt CPF rebate plan for the employers, to help save jobs, does it apply to PR also? If so, our reserves that is accumulated from past generations till now r use to help save the jobs of this kind of people also? We r doomed.

Cannot come back anymore even on social visit pass. Knew someone who was like that. Essentially, he was told by ICA if he land in Sin, he will be turned away by immigration officers.

I'll let you know one thing, it wouldn't surprise me if he claimed Indian parentage, (from India)

as the Indian Government has this thing that allow Indians, who can prove (birth cert) their parents

were from India, they can do investments in india just as a citizen of India would, plus other subsidies.

So, SG work and get this, MY buy house , citizenship, India investment in land etc...

Don't Aneh, aneh hor?

BTW, they suing England for what? They served as Comfort Slaves also ar? [lipsrsealed]

A lot of Malaysians who have lived here for many many years still refuse to take up citizenship. I know some of them even studied A levels and went to University here and then spent their entire lives working in Singapore, but after 20 yrs still want to keep their options open. Openly they give all kinds of excuses like this Adrian guy. Privately, they just don't want the liabilities of being a Singaporean (eg NS for children), and they want to own property back home in Malaysia.

The problem as I see it is that there is not enough disincentives to remaining a PR as opposed to taking up citizenship. From housing, education, healthcare etc, the differences have not been significant enough to change their minds.

But since PRs have long been accustomed to getting almost equal treatment as citizens, they now think its their entitlement and right. [shakehead]

im a [lipsrsealed]

pray tell, why should a pr take up citizenship when we all know that having an alternative place to retire is something that we all plan for? being a citizen, only batam and johor are options... as stated by our million dollar ministers.

why get angry with prs who started their family here, pay tax, etc? sore over ns? go look up ur minister. dun cry and cry but when erection come, all vote for 66.6%.

where do u draw the line between citizen and pr privileges? why no one tell sinkies working overseas to change their citizenship to that country?

Many Singaporeans won't have so much unhappiness with PRs as long as :

1. they just ADMIT that they are opportunists here for themselves and stop putting on the act that they are here to contribute to Singapore yada yada...oh pls...like they had much better opportunities back home that they sacrificed to be here. <_<

2. they realise the concessions the govt has given them so far (which is many Singaporeans' view, is already unfair) cannot last forever and that they can stop demanding equal rights whenever there is any hint of their position being threatened.

And we don't need PRs to tell us how to handle our govt. Leave that to Singaporeans, but expect and accept changes quietly if the growing tide of unhappy Singaporeans get our way.

So even 2nd generation PRs who give up their PRship cannot come back anymore. This is indeed great to know. Thanks.

Keep all these selfish people who only wants to take but don't want to contribute OUT!!!!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!

Too bad the job credit plan to save jobs also includes saving the jobs of selfish PRs who only out to exploit SG but dont want to contribute

2nd gen PRs who goes through NS, I will see them as one of our own.

To correct you: it's only the eligible voting population that had 66.6% vote (ie areas that were contested)

And while we do complain about the government, I'm still consoled that at our politicians still respect the system enough to adhere to the results. Unlike *some* country... whole country voted and then... the states can still flip-flop here and there... no wonder the prata-politiks

YOu are soOOOoo missing the point here:

There is absolutely no forcing of PRs to take up citizenship here. Neither is there any ill-feeling towards PRs who accept their 'package' of being a PR.. JUST STOP ASKING FOR CITIZEN PRIVILIDGES WHEN YOU ARE NOT ONE!!!!... Cannot understand simple logic ah??

I have not come across any articles of Singaporeans working in US or Canada or Europe or Malaysia... asking for CITIZEN rights and privilidges of those countries while they are working in those countries as FTs or PRs leh. If you have, please highlight...

We still have yet to reach our target population of 6.5 million people.

By then we probably have to retire at Batam or JB.
