there's a hardware store along Lavander that specializes in automotive tools. it's 2 buildings from Singapore Casket, before Foch Road. they have lots of goodies that would send DIY mechs crazy! [thumbsup]

Do u always patronize the shop? The staff told me that they got a regular customer who comes & get what he wants and go. This regular customer don't dare to stay & browse. He may end buying more stuff.

Is this a jack stand?

Looks expensive.

There is a guy in my estate who does simple fluid and oil changes himself, spoke to him several times and he says its not the $$$ but the satisfaction he gets from getting dirty. [sweatdrop]

Looks very dangerous dangerous, he crawls under the car by supporting it with a tiny jack from his boot. [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

Jack stand is not expensive if you buy from blk 30 Kelantan Lane. There's a hardware shop at the corner.

Costs me around $25 for a pair of 2 tons jack stand, if I remember correctly.

The name of the shop is Alltools.

They have very nice tools, a bit on the expensive side...but generally good quality stuff.

Thinking of performing my own fluid and oil changes too, cheaper and job satisfaction is [thumbsup] .

$25 a pair is reasonable, was under the impression that its costly.

How are they used?

You still need a jack to lift up the car, then slide the stand underneath it.

Then lower the car to rest on it.

The stand is height adjustable in steps depending on the design.
