Ixiz Clutched February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 Nice Theory ...but in reality ...it's the "Ants" that caused the jams ....the other type of "Ants" ...you just need to reverse the colour of your picture of the ants and the road and you will see what type of "ants" ... Nohnemwan 1st Gear February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 The author forgot that ants live in a co-operative society. We live in a competitive society. Just look at any taxi uncle. His attitude is "fark-you-if-can-overtake-will-overtake", even if he ends up 2 cars in front of you at the same traffic light, he feels proud and justified in his driving strategy. Chow beng also - accelerate at full speed, next traffic light, he is still 1 car in front of you only.

Zyrofillica 1st Gear February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 y must all motorbikes stick to the left most lane? as long as they arent hogging its fine if they wanna take the right.
Admin Clutched February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 We actually have something similar on SG roads. The KPE with a speed limit of 70 km/h and laser speed cameras actually forces most cars to all travel at the same speed, so even when there are quite a number of cars in the tunnel, it is still relatively jam free... Dussutour noted that when faster moving ants without a payload got behind their slower weight-bearing counterparts, they obediently stuck behind them instead of passing the burdened ant. This actually sped up flow of the entire colony. Don't know what species of ants they studied or if this is true only for certain species. But after spending a couple of hours (watching them carry poison gel bait back to their nest) watching the colony on a wooden table in my place, I noticed that the faster ones would readily overtake the slower ones along the same path! The big ones found on the trees outdoors, on the other hand, will usually either help their slower counterparts carry the load, or walk at a certain distance behind them. My observation is mostly they are too slow, take up a quarter of the lane - which is as good as the whole lane anyway. If they can keep up with the flow I don't mind, but mostly they just get in the way.

Ah_tee 2nd Gear February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 (edited) much of the jams are contributed by road hoggers, esp in morning peak hours, some fella would definitely hog the 1st lane and then everyone else got to overtake him o the left and cause lane 2 to slow down. although they have this rule, i dont its been enforced. normally 80-90 i dont do anything, but there are extrme cases like 60-70 we see once in awhile. those kind i will go beside them n horn n den overtake Edited February 11, 2009 by Ah_tee

Atonchia Supersonic February 11, 2009 Share February 11, 2009 But remember, if we do not want filtering or overtaking and move just like ants, It meant all Roads only Single Lane Carriageway. When we have 5 lanes, so how do we go to slip-road from the 1st lane. Certainly not by flying.
