Caught the premire on National Geographic last night. It is a documentary-reality TV about the lives of some personnel serving on board USS Nimitz during a 6 months deployment. The personnel covered range from the ship's captain to fighter pilots to ground crew to a lowly lobo in charge of scrubbing the toilet.

For those who are interested in military topics, don't forget to catch it.

Saw it. Pretty good. Directed by Mel Gibson.

The deck crew (red shirt) made his gf pregnant. When he broke the news to the girls father, the father damn solid. Didn't get mad. He just asked "Both of you should be smarter than this." :D

My favourite part was when the XO @#$% the entire crew because someone was suspected of tossing a cyalume stick into the sea, causing a "man overboard" panic at night.

The kena charged part was also quite interesting. The female sailor kena 45 days confinemet, 45 days extra duties and 50% pay cut for 2 months for having alcohol. [sweatdrop]

Must've been nerve wrecking for him. The GF's dad was a former military man. Lt Commander at that.

Bet his balls shrank so bad he wished he shouldn't have gone commando [laugh] [laugh]

Quite a harsh sentence I must say.

i didn't watch 'cos I was watching the history channel on 'Battle 360' at 9pm.It's about how the american carrier group fight back against the japanese imperial navy during 2nd world war after they sustain heavy losses during the surprise attack in peral harbour.

I find battle 360 and Dogfights biased towards the americans. Th enemies are sorta de-humanized.

Also, wats with Nat Geo and Discovery? They seems to show similar programmes at the same time slot. Can anyone explain this phenomenal?

She must report in at certain times of the day. IIRC, one of the timing is 0530. If the ship is in port, she cannot go on shore leave.

I finished watching that already. Battle 360 is currently on its 2nd or 3rd rerun. [:)]

I think Dicovery and Nat Geo are fighting for the same set of viewers. Their programs are getting very similiar.

Agree with you regarding Dogfights. The British, Germans, Russians and Japanese also did heroic stuff in the air but they don't get much coverage. Until now they don't even have an episode on the Battle of Britain, Battle of Malta, Eric Hartmann or Saburo Sakai

There were a few Dogfights episodes where they covered the heroic skills of Axis pilots. There was this German WW1 pilot in a Triplane who single-handedly took the fight to 5 or 6 British airmen and while he was eventually shot down, he inflicted damage on all his opponents. You've got to remember that the series is produced from USA, so of course they will cover American pilots more. Plus they have easier access to American war archives than those from the former Axis powers.
