Hishercar Clutched February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 It is also more fuel efficient to move the car forward when the engine is cold than to reverse. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It has been said that a car parked head first in a lot between two vehicles, with its front wheels turned completely, is harder to steal. But in fact, a car with a steering and pedal lock is even harder to steal. ↡ Advertisement
Chickensoup 1st Gear February 5, 2009 Share February 5, 2009 Yes, if your car is FWD, forward movement is more efficient. Reverse means you car become RWD style. But only reverse out of parking lot the difference is too minimal to mention. If FC is what you at aiming at, insignificant.
Hishercar Clutched February 5, 2009 Author Share February 5, 2009 Spark plugs that are slow to dissipate heat are described as hot while those that are quick to do so are called cold plugs. A hot plug has a longer insulator nose, which exposes more surface area to the combustion gases. This is to ensure the temperature at the insulator nose stays sufficiently high to burn off carbon and oil deposits. A cold plug is the opposite. The shorter insulator nose minimises exposure to combustion gases for faster transfer of heat to the cylinder to minimise the chances of overheating and premature failure. Start with spark plugs recommended by the car manufacturer. After a few days, remove the plug and examine the insulator tip. If you see a grey, chalky deposit, the plug is suitable for the engine. If the tip is sooty, you will need a hotter plug. If it is white, switch to a colder plug. When switching from a hotter to colder plug or vice versa, move up or down the heat range scale gradually (one unit at a time) and check its suitability with the steps above. ↡ Advertisement
