Maybe you need to replace the car? [bounce1]

Used your car 3 years already and only now this problem surfaces?

Have you ever changed the battery in your car remote key?

Or do you think that the remote can work for ten years without needing to change battery?

sorry to piggy back here but anyone knows of a reliable 3rd party key replacement?

I have a Toyota car with the fat key that has a built in lock/unlock buttons. The key casing cracked and I have two separate pieces now, one key and one lock/unlock device.

is there someone who sells replacement casings? I don't need to change the lock/unlock device since it still work but I need to get a new casing that will fit the metal key and the device.

any contacts? I don't want to go back to Borneo Motors who are rip-offs.

My car door (keyless) is pretty screwed up too. Sometimes it takes multiple times of me grabbing the handle to open. I know its not the remote because the boot opens fine every single time. What can I do?

Sometime it is the loose connection in the remote itself.

If urs is keyless start then try to put remote near the start button to pair again. If the keyless is original there should be a button, put ur thumb there for a faction of a second n it shld unlock.

How much did you get your replacement key at Tywritt? Soxxi's website indicated a $70-80 to replace key shell. The actual cost of the shell from China is US$3.

I looked online and managed to get the car key shell from this China website.

www.keymam.com

They agreed to sell me one shell and airmail it to me. Total cost is about S$26 including airmail. Takes about 10 days.

I transferred the transponder easily into the shell. I just got it cut by a roadside key-cutter for S$5. Total cost is $31 compared to $60-70 for the shops in Singapore including Soxxi.

Just thought I share this.

For those who dislike to DIY, just go to Soxxi and get it done. In and out, not more than five minutes. No need to wait for days...

It could actually be the battery or contacts...

Some of the key fobs are badly designed in the sense that the battery contacts lose their 'springiness'... for my own remote, i actually have to bend the contacts inwards to rejuvenate them before inserting new battery :D

As for the battery... there's another funny story to this...

My vehicle remote uses A27 size, and when it refused to work, i bought another A27 from the neighbourhood shop and replaced. Still refused to work!! Anyway, since regular servicing was coming up, I thought I'd ask the experts... Straightaway the mechanic told me that it's a battery problem; and I asked why, since the LED still blinked everytime I pressed the remote buttons. Not convinced, until the mechanic swapped the battery on my remote and SURPRISE, it now works!

You may have guessed by now... the neighbourhood shop sold me a half-dead battery... the A27 supposed to put out 12V, but the one I bought (verified with multimeter) could only produce around 3+ volts [furious]
