Rickster 5th Gear February 4, 2009 Share February 4, 2009 We are only at the start of the recession... The light at the end of the tunnel is not even in sight yet... There are a lot of hopeful people who think their jobs are safe or govt servants with iron rice bowls whom has taken their bonuses recently... Until this pool of customers are exhausted, we would not see any reduction of AD margins... All these hopeful people are the ones who will pull our arses out of this s--t mess we r in now. ↡ Advertisement
Wt_know Supersonic February 4, 2009 Share February 4, 2009 (edited) i guess we as consumers are difficult to 'defeat' the dealers especially the authorised dealer for specific make where you have to buy from them. these big dealers can get through the tough time by reducing overhead cost (mainly rental and manpower). they don't have big inventory as they only order the car from the auto maker when there is an order to purchase the dealers who may fold up are the PI and 2nd car dealers Edited February 4, 2009 by Wt_know
Karpi Neutral Newbie February 4, 2009 Share February 4, 2009 Look at the majority income group (middle) and characteristics of singaporeans. Most will still die die go for brand, but of lower end models. Characteristics like rather lose people, no lose face. Face it, don't deceive oneself. 2ndly, surprisingly till now, many still thought only jap cars is FC friendly and reliable. Last but not least, peers around us mostly driving jap. nonetheless, having said the above, there's of course smaller % think otherwise, rather buy a cheaper cost car to maintain. Blue850r Clutched February 4, 2009 Share February 4, 2009 I realise Korean car AD's salesman generally tend to be more dao. I'm the type who likes to visit car showrooms every other month to update myself on the latest models & molest the cars - Thus, my observation is not a one-off comment. On the contrary, I'm extremely impressed by Mercedes's salespeople. They attend to you like a VIP even if you are in slippers & berms. Right On Benz Centre got free coffee and tea served. Morning service got free breakfast Delifrance some more.

Yaloryalor 5th Gear February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 True Personally I take example of Legacy and Stream. MI adjusted the selling price of Legacy accordingly whenever the COE is lowered. As for KM, the selling price of the RSZ is only $2~3K diff despite the drop of the COE is more than $10K
Victor68 Turbocharged February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 I just want to give my cents worth here. My prediction, prices of cars will go 1 way. That is down further in the coming months till end of the year. However, I can't say by how much. Once yen is down, you will see Altis going below $40K soon. I don't hink you should compare the nos of cars years in total to decide the most sellable car. Pricing, the nos of models brought in by dealers also play an important role. Why do one compare Advante to Altis? they are almost $10K difference or 25%. You can dress up the Advante to look and feel better than Altis for that money. Cherry is another group when you are looking at $30 K mechines.

Vinceyeo Neutral Newbie February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 Different group la. When you drive, without a car you felt like you lost your legs. Don't feel like going anywhere. I beg to differ even though I am only a driver for less than 2 years. Recently sent car to workshop for 2 days and had to BMW... It was a great feeling and nostalgic to actually have time to hang around in the train and observe strangers instead of just my car's dashboard and GF/known passengers. Then go to those crowded places like Sim Lim Square and dun need to worry about parking and can walk where I want to without worrying about later having to go back to get my ride. Maybe its just me ↡ Advertisement
