Renegade777 5th Gear July 25, 2009 Share July 25, 2009 (edited) no worries.... actually in this episode, I realised a loophole in LTA's system.... someone can actually chnage the OPC plate to black and then register it as normal prior to the road tax renewal(seal inspection) and you actually use a blavk plate for up to 12 months!!! You are so clever. Later kanna road block or roving TP/Police just key in your VRN into their system and pop out showing the car is a weekend car , and you will be inviting big big trouble. Where got so easy. You might as well say dont buy car, just steal any car and put in fake number plate will do leow and can drive and drive years over years. In addition, think cheating the govenment is much more serious offence than car theft. Edited July 25, 2009 by Renegade777

Kianbeng Clutched September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 Does anyone knows how much is the car plate bracket? My car plate is the normal embossed type that fits into a plastic bracket where you can clip and open/close. I realised my bracket (made of plastic) is powdery liao and the paint is falling off. So I want to buy a new plastic bracket for it. The last time I bought was in a shop in playfair road and I think it cost me $15 for it. Since aluminium car plates can also be as cheap as $15/$20 I guess I must have overpaid for my plastic bracket last time...... Anyway I need another one now. So appreciate if someone can advise. LTA have better ways to track unauthorised OPC car usage other than looking at the physical number plate. They are not that stupid.

Dogegg89 Neutral Newbie March 10, 2011 Share March 10, 2011 Hi, i dont think there is any approve chrome plate. They can still fine u if they want to. They wont catch u as long as its visible. But i think think there is such "approved" chrome lettering. Information gotten from www.sticky-plate.com FYI, Chrome plates have never being approved by LTA. There is actually a grey area regarding chrome plates. From my experience, I have customers whom passed LTA inspection with chrome plates as well. BUT, if they want, they can still fine you. So alot depends on luck. Regards, sticky-plate.com
